Romanogers - What if... nat returned from the dead?

The next day:

Both Steve and Natasha were so caught up on what happened yesterday that they completely forgot of the ball in celebration of Tony that was happening tonight. Steve hadn't even slept, thinking about what to do. Should he go after Nat? But if she really loved him, why did she leave in the first place? And what about Sharon? They had just started officially dating, should he break up with her? He went to talk to Bucky, ask for his opinion, and coincidently (again, maybe not) Wanda was around, so he talked to the both of them. He told them what happened and neither of them were surprised.

B: At least she finally admitted to herself. And to you.

W: Yeah. She has been in love with you for years now Steve. That's why she left.

S: Why would she leave if she also wanted to be with me? I kissed her, she stopped it. I don't understand!

B: Steve, Nat has been trough a lot. She's not good at trusting others and is even worst at trusting herself. She's too afraid she'll hurt you, or disappoint you, and I'm pretty sure that she's terrified of losing you. She lost everyone she ever loved Steve. Its not easy for her to let herself fall because she thinks that means she will loose the person she falls for.

W: I've seen it. In her mind. It's all of that, she is afraid of losing and hurt you, but there is more than that this time. She doesn't think she worthy of you Steve.

S: Why?? Because I'm Captain America?

W: No, not at all actually, because you are Steve Rogers. She thinks you are too good for her. She thinks you deserve someone as good as you, not someone with her background

S: That can't be true, she knows I don't care about her past.

B: It is true. She told me herself. In her own words "you deserve a Peggy, not a Widow"

W: You need to talk to her

S: I will. Thank you guys.

B: Good luck.

In the meantime, Nat is in her room, the same place she has been since her encounter with Steve. She just remembered that Tony's celebratory party is today. She knew she couldn't miss it, she promised herself she would go, to honor his memory, and Tony asked her something a long time ago that she would do for him, today. The snow was already gone, but she didn't feel like going out to buy a dress, so she decided to just wear whatever she had on her wardrobe, she didn't care anymore.

Steve thought about talking to her in the party, but he remembered he had already made plans with Sharon to go together, and she wasn't the kind of person that he could cancel on.

Nat got ready. She put the only black dress she could find that felt fancy enough. She had no idea what to do next, luckily, Wanda came in and offered to do her makeup and hair. They got ready and left the room in the direction of the ballroom where the party was going to be in.

Meanwhile Steve got ready and met with Sharon in the avenger's kitchen before going in. Sharon was wearing a (very) pink dress. Steve honestly didn't really like it, but he knew better than to say anything

Steve: 

Sharon:

S: you look beautiful.

Sh: I know! You ready?

S: Yeah, let's go

Nat was about to go down with Wanda when she saw Steve, and Sharon (gosh that woman was EVERYWHERE). "I guess that means he made his choice", she thought to herself.

N: Wanda, I'm going to the kitchen, get some water, and I'll be right there.

W: I'll wait for you

N: No, it's ok, you can go. I'll ketch up.

W: Okay, see you in a bit.

Wanda went, and Nat stayed there a few minutes, preparing herself. She really wasn't in the mood for a party, but she gathers herself and goes. She didn't realize however, that she was quite late, so when she got to the entrance of the saloon, everyone was already there. She was planning on camouflaging between guests, but to get to the ballroom there was a big stair. (Very cliché, but tony had it specially made for what he called his "brilliant entrances". Damn you tony).

She went down the first step -deep breaths Natalia, deep breaths. So far, everything was alright, no one seemed to notice her. She took another step. A man saw her, and whispered something to his friends, that whispered to their friends, and with that, the buzz started. Suddenly, the entire room was looking at her, including him. She had no other option than to keep going down, so she did that, even though all she wanted to do was to run as far away from there as she possibly could.

The moment she stepped foot in the room, five different men came to talk to her, offer her drinks. She looked at Steve, that looked away and continued to talk to Sharon.

N: (thinking) *Ugh that girl. How in Earth isn't he blind from just looking at that dress, I didn't even know pink could be this...well, pink!*

A slow song starts to play. A handsome man she met at an event a long time ago approached her and asked her to dance. At the same time, she saw Sharon asking Steve, so she said yes, it was better than to just be sitting and watching him dance.
