Chapter 21
(Harry's POV)
"Jenn," I begin wining, "can we go down to the beach?"
We are currently alone in her house, her parents went shopping for some furniture for the house, and we were unpacking all her things. Kinda stupid because we were leaving in two days or so. I have been gaining bigger and deeper feelings for Jenn.
Lately, I have been getting a lot of hate from Luke. He just completely ignores me and I think I know why. I know he dated Jenn back at the camp in Chicago, she told me. After hearing how they broke up, I was kinda mad at Luke. Sure I didn't know Jenn personally, but I was on her side. You don't use someone as a toy. It doesn't work that way. Then when I heard him say 'I love you' to Jenn, it shattered me. I thought she was going to leave me.
"Give me twenty more minutes, then we can go. I'm almost done with my room," she laughed.
"Fine, I'll be outside waiting."
I walk out of the room and make my way down the stairs. I already had my swim shorts on, I just needed to make one quick call. This call wasn't that important, but to me, this was a serious call about my future with Jenn. I needed to figure all this out once and for all. I grab my phone out from my sweater pocket and open the calling app.
"Hello?" I hear them say.
"Luke, it's Harry. Do you think we can meet up tonight? I mean, we are both in Sydney right now and I kinda need to talk to you."
"Harry, I don't think we should," he softly responds.
"This is important. I really need to talk to you."
"Okay. Meet me tonight at this pizza place, I'll text you the address."
"Thanks Luke. Means a lot right now."
"Okay...."
There was an awkward silence until I finally said, "Bye."
I hung up right when Jenn was walking out of the house with her swim suit and towel. All ready to go swimming.
"Who were you just talking to on the phone?" she asks.
"My mom. I haven't seen her in a little, I just miss her. Wanted to check up on things," I lied.
For the time we are going to be at the beach, I don't want too much PDA. If I want to find out the truth by talking to Luke tonight, I don't want to regret anything I did today at the beach. I think she still has feelings for Luke. It isn't obvious, but I just feel she still does.
"Harry?" she asks.
"Yeah?"
"Tonight, I'm meeting up with some of my friends. I know the other guys are still in their rooms right now, but you can come with me if you want."
"Well actually, I have some meetings with my management tonight. I won't be home till late tonight. I'm sorry," I lie.
If I told her that I was going to see Luke, she would question me. She knows he hates me and that would just confuse her more and ruin our relationship.
"Let's go swimming," she says fake smiling.

"Luke!" I say while pulling him in for a hug.
"Hey Harry..." he says shyly.
"Listen, I need to ask you about Jenn."
"I rather not," he says.
"I think she still has feelings for you," I interrupt.
"What?" he says with a hidden smile.
"I'm not 100% sure, but I am pretty sure. She always overreacts whenever I mention your name and when she hears your voice, there is a hint of red on her cheeks. I just wanna know everything. I can help you out. I can't let one of my best friends hate me because I took the girl they love from them. I wouldn't want that to happen to me."
"Wow Harry. Honestly, I do like her still. We did end on a weird note. We were only dating for a few weeks, maybe months? I don't know. I really liked her. Calum told her that I was just using her to get over my ex. A small portion of our relationship was because of that, but I honestly liked her. Harry, you don't have to do this for me. I have been a jerk to you. I don't deserve this," he responds.
"I just don't want to start anything with Jenn. I don't want to regret it. Sure, I would like to tell her the three words, again, but if I don't mean it, she can take it another way. Luke, I heard you tell her you still loved her. That's why I'm talking to you. If you want her, it may break my heart, but I rather her be happy with you then with me. Bro code."
Luke gets up from chewing his pizza and hugs me. I don't want to break Jenn. I just feel wrong dating her while someone actually loves her. I feel like Luke had her first and I can't disrespect him like that.
"Are you sure you want to do this to Jenn?" he asks.
"Luke, you had her first. Whatever happened back in Chicago was just a misunderstanding. I think we should have Calum talk to her again. Tell her that it wasn't true that you used her as a toy. Then I can have a calm talk and tell her to leave me and go for you. You belong together. I just hate being the one to see it all happen and know I caused this."
"Thanks man. I appreciate this so much. I owe you."
"No problem."
I know what I had to do. Give up the girl I really liked to my best friend. I had to break up with her.
