Chapter 42
(Luke's POV)
Jenn is coming back today and I don't know whether I should be happy or sad. We are leaving for tour in exactly a week and everyone is here in Chicago except Ashton. Michael got here yesterday and is sleeping in my apartment. My apartment is a mess right now because we are going crazy. Too many things to do before we leave.
"Are you coming with us to pick up Jenn?" Michael asks
I thought for a long moment about what I should say. No matter what decision I make, it will backfire on me. If I say yes, Jenn will remember everything that has happened since she has been gone. All these fights we had when we called and texted. We kinda just told each other everything that we have been having problems with each other. She ended up in tears, I ended up not leaving my room for a whole week. I got skinnier than normal, but I know if anything worse happens, I will get worse too.
"Uh...." I begin.
"Luke Robert Hemmings, if you dare say, 'no' to going with us to pick up your girlfriend who you haven't seen in months, I don't know what to do with you."
"I'm sorry, I am just not in the mood. I know you barely know anything since you just got here, but I have every right not to go."
"Luke, make up with her. We are going on tour in a week and I don't need you guys fighting, but I also don't need any PDA from you, but I rather see that than fighting. Fix it now."
"I'm not going," I snap.
I get off the sofa I have been sitting on for about two days and run up to my room. Michael just doesn't understand. He has barely had a taste in what a serious relationship is. Him and Abigail...well, that was a mistake. She was always telling him to act a certain way and he finally had the guts to end it with her. He just thinks in a snap, I can make up with Jenn and we could forget this ever happened. No matter how much I want that to happen, it won't.
I hear a door slam shut downstairs and begin to think that Michael probably met up with Calum to go pick her up and bring her here. Her plane lands in five minutes. She told me before she left a few months ago that her plane lands at 4:13 at Midway.
I walk out of my room and down the hall towards the stairs. The echoes of my feet hitting the floor sounded around the whole apartment. I look out my window and just sit and wait for a plane to come in view.
It is starting to get warm in Chicago during the month of May. Turning around, I grab the two plane tickets for Costa Rica and hold them in my hands. On New Year's Eve, Jenn said she wanted to see the world, well, I bought tickets in January and we are able to go anytime we want. I don't expect us to be going any time soon. All this stuff happening, me and Jenn fighting, me and Michael fighting and just the whole tour in general, has been getting to me. I am more frustrated than I ever have been.
I hear the sound of a plane coming from the sky and look up to see that is was 'Titan Airways' from England. Apparently, Jenn texted Calum a few weeks ago and told him she was going to stay with Louis and meet his parents in Doncaster. She is doing everything to avoid me.
Ten minutes later I get a call from Calum. This is the first time in a while he actually decided to call me.
"Luke, it's Michael."
Of course Calum would do that. He told me yesterday before Michael got here, that he won't talk to me until I made up with Jenn.
"Okay, what do you want?"
"Well um.. Jenn isn't here."
"What do you mean?"
"She just called my phone and said she is going to stay in Australia for a bit..."
My body just fails on me. I kneel down on the ground and think about what he just said. This is all my fault, she decided to go home to Australia because of me. She doesn't even want to be near me. The tears that have never formed in my eyes before, appear at the rim and begin falling. I never knew that something so small could turn into something this big.
"Luke? You still there? We are on our way back," Michael says, "listen, Calum told me what happened. I'm sorry you thought that something like that could happen, she loves you. You wouldn't believe all the times when I would hang out with her, she would just go off about how much she loves you. Whatever you two fought about over text and on the phone, it was just a waste of time. You need to fix this. We can help you, and by we I mean just me. When I get back, we can buy a plane ticket for you and figure out what we should do. I am just worried that you might get worse, start making bad choices-"
"Just hang up already Michael!" I hear Calum shout in the background.
"Well I am sorry. I am caring for a friend who might not even be hearing this right now. At least I care about him, unlike you. How can you think that ignoring him because he got in a fight with his girlfriend is going to help this situation?"
After that, I hang up. I can't do this anymore. Calum is over reacting, like always. Friends are suppose to help you when something like this happens, not ditch you. Yes, it's my fault that Jenn is in Australia right now, but it is also her fault for making me think she likes Louis and Harry. She flirted with them and the whole time they were here, they stayed up late and did something, I wasn't even involved and it was my idea.
"Luke? What happened?" Michael says running to my side.
"I didn't know something I did could end up like this. It's all my fault."
"Well, yeah part of it is your fault."
I look up, "what do you mean 'part' of it is my fault?"
"I must've forgotten to tell you, Jenn's parents were in a serious car accident yesterday night and they didn't make it."
I freeze. I just made her whole life worse. I jump from my position and run out the door.
"Hey Luke-" Calum says in a serious tone.
Tears were rushing down my face and Calum stopped as soon as he saw me run down the hall. She needs someone to be with her. I pull my phone out and dial an unknown number I never typed in before.
"When is your next flight to Sydney, Australia?"
