Chapter 38

(Jenn's POV)

It is now February and the warm air in Australia is at its full power. Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and Luke told me that we are going somewhere for a few days, so I had to pack some things. Luke has been really eager to go. Our flight leaves tonight, in four hours. Apparently my parents know what is happening, I am just the only who doesn't know anything. I am sitting on my porch, with my luggage, waiting for Luke. He is ten minutes late.

I take out my phone from my carry on case and right when I was about to text Luke, he walks out of his house.

"I am really sorry! Parents had to talk and talk. Lets go!!" He shouts.

I grab my bags and run over to his car. He grabs them from me quickly and places it in the back of his parents' car. I open the passenger door and slide into the seat. Before Luke can get in, I buckle my seat belt and just wait quietly, until he walks in the car and sits down.

He leans over to me and kisses me lightly. We haven't seen each other in a while because he has had massive meetings for his upcoming tour. I haven't seen him in a week or so. Though, I see him come home from the meetings late at night. I sit in front of my house and just sit there. Without Luke spending time with me, I just watch Netflix. I haven't really made friends here. Why make any when I am going to be on tour with Luke. I am not going to be home as much as I want to.

"So, I want you to plug your earphones in and listen to music until I tell you, you can stop. I don't want you to know where we are going because there won't be a point for surprising you. Okay?" Luke says.

"Fine. Can you at least give me a hint of where we are going?"

"Okay. Umm....it is out of this world, with a good view of water."

"We are going to planet mars?" I joke.

"Dang it, you guessed it."

The rest of the car ride is silent. I know Luke is nervous about this. He must be really nervous.

*****

"Okay, now I am going to put a bandanna on you, okay? I don't want you to see the surroundings. You'll know exactly where we are."

Luke ties a bandanna around my eyes before we walk into a taxi. I have been listening to music on my phone since Luke told me to before we got on the plane. I don't know how long the plane ride was, I was sleeping a little bit too.

After about twenty minutes, Luke stops the taxi, pays him and grabs my hand. He helps me out of the car and it seems like we enter a door and into an elevator.

"What are we doing?" I ask.

"Something crazy," he replies.

I hear a door open and my bandanna is removed. I open my eyes to see a beautiful living space. A view of a body of water, some skyscrapers and a beach. I know exactly where we are, Chicago.

"You brought me to Chicago?" I ask.

"I didn't just bring you to Chicago."

"What do you mean?"

"Do you remember New Years Eve? When we started talking about our future together? Well, one of those plans came true today. Say hello to our new apartment!"

"Wha-What?!?! This is our place? We are living in Chicago now? Luke. I can't believe this. Are you serious? Oh my god," I shout.

"Happy Valentine's Day Jenn!"

I run into his arms and tears leave my eyes. I couldn't help it. We were just talking on New Years. We weren't going to believe it would happen. Now it is. I am living in a fantasy.

"Luke, I can pay you something, you probably spent a lot of money on this," I begin.

"No. Jenn, every penny was paid by my record label and management. I told you, the record label is opening a building in Chicago, we were able to pick what city. I told them me and you wanted to live in Chicago, it was the perfect place."

"How did you find this place?"

"Do you remember when I told you I wasn't going to be around because of meetings? I kinda snuck off here and went searching for a apartment. I was nervous that you would think I was avoiding you."

"Don't be crazy, I am just shocked that this is all happening right now. I mean, what about all our other things?"

"Our parents, well I already packed my room up, but your parents and mine are packing your room up and it should be here within a few days. Don't worry, we will see them within the month to make sure we say our official goodbyes to each other."

"I can't believe you did this. What will happen to this place when we go on tour?"

"Well, we are going to need somebody to take care of CoCo, so maybe we can have Jack or Ben stay here for the time we are gone, or we can send CoCo to a pet place."

"Who is CoCo?" I ask.

Just like that, a small dog appears from another room down a hallway. She is white and has the cutest little face I have ever seen. I have never had a pet, but knowing Luke will be helping me with her, I am completely fine with it.

"CoCo is a Coton de Tulear and she is our new dog."

Luke sits there and smiles at me. Like this was completely normal. It totally is, to fly someone around the world to live in one of our favorite cities and a surprise dog is awaiting for us.

"Is there any other surprises?" I ask.

"Other than the fact that Calum might move in right next door, than no."

"Why is Calum moving right next door?"

"We thought it would be better if two of us would live here and two of us live in Australia. Calum offered to go."

"When is he moving in?"

"A few days, maybe, most likely tomorrow."

"Anyone with him?" I ask.

"Oh. No. Him and Jade kinda broke up a few weeks ago. One of the main reasons why he is moving here. She keeps trying to get him back. It's annoying him. He is legit moving in right next door to our apartment," he says.

"Wow. It is only midnight here and I know everything that is happening. Are we aloud to go to sleep? or is the whole place not furnished?"

"Everything is furnished," he says, "I'll walk you to our room. I made reservations at a fancy restaurant tonight, so get some sleep. I am gonna unpack some things before sleeping, I'm not really tired at the moment," he replies.

Before he walks out of the door, I grab his arm and hold it for a second.

"I just want you to know that I really appreciate what you did for me. I never felt so loved before in my life. There are stories that I have never told anyone, but I do want to tell you at some point. Just, thank you Luke."

"Jenn, you don't have to tell me anything until you are comfortable," he says, holding my cheeks, "I can wait. I just want to be with you, that is all that matters. I don't have to know until I am on my death bed, it won't change any thoughts of you. I will always love you."

"Thank you Luke. I love you."

He kisses my forehead and slowly lets go of my hand before walking out the door to unpack everything. I wipe away a tear and prepare myself for sleep. I practically came in my pajamas, so I don't have to change at all.

And I know, for the first time in a long time, I sleep with a smile on my face.
