We were together in the dining area eating our dinner. Nakauwi na ang parents namin from their business trips.
Tinanong ni Daddy si Kenneth about sa game.
"Easy, Dad. We can make it through the finals," he replied, smiling after munching the fried chicken.
"Kanino pa ba 'yan nagmana sa kayabangan?" ani naman ni Mommy habang nakangiti.
"S'yempre, Mommy. Kayang kaya ko 'yon. Road to semi finals na rin naman kami," sabi pa ni Kenneth.
"Remember what I told you, Ken. Studies shouldn't be set aside. Make it sure that it should be your priority," Dad told him.
Tumango si Kenneth. "Yes, Daddy."
"You'll be graduating soon, Mona. How is your studies?" Dad turned to me.
"Okay naman po, Daddy. I'm not pressured naman po. Matatapos na rin po ako sa internship ko," sagot ko.
"That's good, Mona. Are you going to apply to broadcasting companies?"
"Yes, Daddy. As long as there are opportunities, I'll work hard," nakangiti kong sambit.
Pagkatapos ng hapunan ay nanonod ako sa living room kasama si Kenneth.
"Di ka na ba busy?" tanong ko.
"Yes. Tapos na mid term, Ate," sagot nito.
I turned to him. "So would you now tell me about Lander?"
His face turned to girm. "Why are you so curious about it?"
"Just asking. Bakit bawal ba?"
"No. It's just that I'm sensing different which I can't point out."
"Feeling mo lang." I scrunched my nose. "So bakit nga?"
"Alright. Sasabihin ko na para hindi ka na makulit."
"Wow ha, once ko lang naman naitanong."
"Curiosity kills the cat, Ate."
Ngumuso ako. "Oo na. So what really happened?"
"It all started with a normal fight. Normal na asaran. Normal na kantyawan. 'Yung grupo namin ta's grupo niya laging magkalaban. Until one day, Marcus, his friend, slept with Calvin's cousin. She got pregnant. He was furious when he knew it. That's a normal reaction for him so we didn't stop him when he went to Marcus. They were playing the game but it didn't stop Calvin from getting even. He punched Marcus until he almost bled to death. Pinigilan siya ni Lander but that fucker made Calvin injured," pagkukuwento niya.
Did he really do it?
"Lander did that?" I asked, trying to process if he really did it.
He nodded. "S'yempre kami, binangasan din namin mukha nila Marcus. Hanggang sa nagkagulo na. Lander apologized. Inamin din ng gago na mali siya. We accepted his apology. But Marcus didn't stop. Pumunta pa siya sa gym namin at nagwawala. Lasing kaya malakas loob. You know what happened, Ate, Marcus and his other friends picked another fight until the police came in to stop us. Na-suspend 'yung mga kasama niya. Stell wasn't able to play because of his leg injury after what happened. What's so fucking maddening, Ate? Marcus, the son of bitch wasn't punished for that!"
"Kasama ba si Lander no'ng nangyari 'yon?"
He nodded.
Shit. Bakit niya ginawa 'yon? Kahit hindi siya ang gumawa. Nando'n pa rin siya. He should've stopped them!
"See how evil the guy is. Lahat kami sa tropa galit sa kanya. Hindi niya man lang mapagsabihan 'yung mga bata niya."
"And? Aside from that, what do you hate from him?"
