I should've called him back. I should've let him know that I still love him. I should've said to him not to give up on me but my mouth ran dry.
I tried doing all I could to fill in the void in me. I knew that no matter what I did, it would never remove the fact that we both were hurt. He still loved me but I took him for granted. I knew I still loved him but the constant worry was pulling me away from him.
Maybe, we're not that healed. And if we are about to rekindle our fire, we would not last longer because of our hang ups.
I wanted to work this out, to not hold restrained from my constant fears and doubts.
"Ready ka na ba?" Neo asked me while he was driving his car. I didn't know how I got the courage to accept his offer, but in the end I did. Sky diving was something I didn't imagine I'd do so while we were still on the way, fear started crippling my chest.
"Puwede bang mag-back out?"
Natawa siya. "Akala ko ba decided ka na. You're not allowed to turn back, Mon. In order to move forward, you shouldn't let fear dwell in you," makahulugan niyang saad.
I played with my fingers because I knew what he meant. Na-ikuwento ko sa kanya na tumigil na si Lander sa akin dahil napapagod na siya.
It would be long hours of driving to Pampanga.
I watched the scenery outside his window and closed my eyes to sleep. The airpods were placed on my ears. I listened to Bread's songs to calm my nerves.
When we got there, Neo was the most excited one because it was one of his bucket lists.
"Can't believe you're really here with me," Neo muttered.
"I need distraction and you know that."
We were instructed on the guidelines regarding sky diving by the licensed skydiving Instructor. My feet turned cold because I really couldn't imagine myself jumping there!
We were about to do Tandem skydiving which most of the beginners chose. We were briefed on the instruction on how and when to deploy canopy ourselves. We also had training for 30 minutes for the jump.
"Neo..." Nanginginig ang aking labi nang sumulyap sa baba. "Hindi ko yata kaya..."
"Come on, Mon, nandito na tayo. Dito ka pa ba susuko?"
"Eh kasi—"
He cut me off. "Trust me. I'm here, okay."
When the instructor, signalled me, I closed my eyes and let myself fall in the sky. It was breath taking and nerve wrecking that I couldn't believe I was able to do!
I wasn't jumping or falling, I was actually flying.
When I was done, my heart was still thumping out loud. Neo, was still smiling so wide.
"Fuck, I can't believe I did it," aniya. Namumula ang mukha nito. I almost laughed seeing him in that state.
We had a quick tour around Pampanga and ate some delicacies there.
It was already seven in the evening when we decided to go home.
"Thanks, Mon. If it weren't you, baka hindi talaga matuloy."
"I should be the one telling it to you. Thank you for letting me experience that."
He smiled then muffled my hair.
