I snapped the quartz in half letting the energy pouring from the crystal, and the demon began to scream itching at its skin until she was evaporated into a cloud of dust.

"Wow," Jensen said in amazement clapping his hands, then Lani and a few patients began to follow.

"Someone had to," I laughed quite embarrassed of the attention.

"Instincts from a true naiad nymph," Jensen cheered slowing his clap to a stop.

This gave me flashbacks to when Zeus doubted me, doubted the honor I held in being the true blood. I couldn't let it tear me down though, for I am the only one able to track down Atticus.

I can't do it alone, that's the problem. I had to not only risk my own life, but now I was risking Lani's life. I know I can do this though, I won't let her die. Furthermore, I'm going to need the help of anthesa and Keaton. Like it or not I had to keep them safe, bringing them along would just make it easier on me. Plus even though they're annoying, we need all the magic we can get.

Most importantly who better to bring along than one of the seers, and if Capri was too ill, I would have to call Kenai. Regardless, the future telling would be my biggest advantage against the vampire king.

"Nai, Jensen, he's coding! Help," Lani screamed from Capri's room.

I tried to run in and help, but I was too late. Jensen was calling the time before my feet hit the door, "Time of death 4:44 Am November 24th."

Great. Thea is going to be heartbroken.

"I'm sorry nai," Lani whispered wrapping her arms around me giving me a tight squeeze.

For a moment, you could see zahir's shadow snatch the last pieces of Capri's soul just before vanishing once more.

"There was only a 50/50 chance, come on," I sighed slightly tugging her arm, leading her down to the basement.

I laid down 4 sheets of paper, all notes I've taken this year on the story, Lani picked each paper up, quickly scanning through the words.

"Here, it says Atticus typically drains his victim's blood using his sharp fangs, killing them or turning them into beasts," Lani read off one sheet of paper," and here, it says he hunts at night taking people in their sleep since sunlight weakens their powers."

"I know, and did you read the part about killing him? There's only one way, decapitation," I informed her plopping down in a computer chair.

"Are you thinking of hunting the beast? You must be out of your mind nai! You could get yourself killed," Lani gasped slamming a sheet of paper down on the cold silver countertop.

"I... was kinda wondering... if you would come too," I began to stutter as Lani bent down to my level.

"Fine, but only so I make sure you don't get yourself killed," Lani smiled then jumped back up clapping excited about our new journey.

"Before you get excited, we need to call Kenai," I informed her rolling the chair to the other side of the room peering at my vampire wall. Thousands of papers filled the cold concrete walls, all taped together in one unorganized mess.

"I have to make sure this wasn't all for nothing, why else would they tell me to study this," I sighed pulling a drawn picture of Atticus from the wall.

"Nai, the gods wouldn't give you this amazing revolutionary task, if it was all for nothing," Lani calmly muffled.

I threw the photograph down to the floor and blurted out," Zeus said I was studying a fairytale Lani! How much of this is true, and how much of this is faked?"

"We'll figure it out, I'll get the word to Kenai. Pack your bags, we can leave tonight before anyone notices," she whispered from the other side of the room.

An old light flickered above her, and white paint was chipped on every concrete wall. Leafy green plants were coming from beneath the cracks of the floor, and the only furniture in place was an old beat-up desk with my computer chair. I could probably make furniture though, there were enough stacks of paper in here to furnish the entire medical center. Only I didn't care much for arts and crafts.

"I'll get Thea, we need all the help we can get. It's better to get her help, rather than risk the life of another naiad," I replied getting out of the chair then closing my eyes transporting to Thea's.

All the lights were dimmed, and the house was quiet. I was sitting on Keaton's plushy bed then called out," Anyone here?"

A loud bang came from the kitchen, so I followed the noise. Anthesa had been going through every book on his bookshelf, laying in the middle of the kitchen floor next to Avi's empty urn.

"Thea," I softly said standing over top of her," Capri didn't make it, and to add to the bad news you're in danger."

"Danger? Did you not handle the demon? You're supposed to be an amazing doctor nai, but you couldn't finish the task! Not only do I lose my friend but - -"

"Anthesa, I handled the demon. The gods gave me a task to study a vampire Atticus, and it turns out he's real."

"Don't interrupt me! Capri was my friend, and you see this," Anthesa yelled out holding avi's empty urn," This is a reminder of the loss I already had to deal with. Capri suffered over this, and at this point, I don't care if I'm an aurae!"

"Hey! Calm down! If you want to live as an aurae? Fine! Abandon your culture, but first, you must give yourself a chance to live," I barked back.

"Don't yell at my fiancé like that Nai, just because you can teleport here doesn't make you my guest," Keaton scoffed from the next room.

Anthesa got all the validation from that, trying to give me the most satisfied smile. As if I even cared what Keaton thought Anthesa was practically my sister. She then proceeded to place the books back on the shelf, all except for one. That one she handed to me, but it was almost light as a feather.

"This is avi's book," Thea revealed pulling her light brown hair from her face," It's supposed to hold something, it's not a real book. Capri found it before I sent him to Azlynn--"

"The keys," Tre chanted out appearing from behind me.

"We didn't notice at the time, but they took the keys! God, how couldn't miss that? Avi use to always brag about them," Treviso notified us looking at the strange book," They all open doors to amazing things, in the wrong hands though - -"

"Youre an auare now, you know of vampires right? You must tell me more," I burst out.

Treviso just shook his head, and vanished before anything else could be said. Something the old me would have done, just to stay true to the God's, but the gods didn't care about what matters. My family matters. Jensen, Thea, and Lani. They're the closest nymphs to me.
