I sat up out of shock, gasping for air. "ELEXIS!?" I yelped, my voice was still groggy from sleeping. My eye sight was still a blur as I tried to focus of her in front of me. Violently rubbing my innocent eyes my vision started to make sense of her weakened body.
"Baby are you ok?!" Tears were spilling from her eyes, confusion filled me, along with anger.I got my tired body up in one big swift movement. I didn't need to hug her, she fell into my arms herself.
"Get me out of here," she squeaked, almost at a whisper, sweat tricked down her forehead.
"What happened? Are you hurt?" I starting spitting questions, what the hell is going on! "I-I... I't hurt-ts my ear's," I still didn't understand. She needed time to calm down. I cradled her in my arms and slowly rocked aback and forth.
"It's ok Lexi, calm down, everything is going to be ok" After about 5 minutes she managed to speak,
"I woke up and thought to get breakfast ready and and," she sniffed, "I opened the zip and it stung my ears and the Velcro! It felt like someone was banging pot pans right next to my ear drums Dylan! And you didn't even flinch! What's happening to me!"
I looked around the tent even though I knew we were alone, "I know exactly what's happening. And it's going to be OK."
"What?" She whispered.
"Come on, you pretty well opened it, we can get out now but I'm carry you to the jeep," confusion filled her brown eyes as I lift her in my arms. I took each step as carefully as possible trying to dodge any sticks or dry leaf that may be in my path.
I gently lowered her into the back, "I'll go get the fruit salad, you missy, you wait here," I kissed her cheek. Before I could pull away she grabbed my face and smashed our lips together, I kissed her back. Once we parted we exchanged smiles. It took me awhile to figure out where I put the can opener last night, and where I left the juice. It has been a rushed morning and it hasn't even started.
I walked back over with my hands full, "mixed fruit salad for you ma'am?" She laughed as I attempted my finest posh voice.
"Why thank you sir," she giggled bowing her head. I slid into the seat next to her. Mmmmm this is bloody good!
"Yum Dyl, thanks for getting that. What's going on with me?" she spat the question I have been waiting to answer all morning.
"Your training starts now."
