That didn't surprise me at all, I mean like I sort saw it coming. His little hints while holding me in the tent, I was listening the whole time. Before, well this morning, I was actually excited to start trying my 'powers and stronger senses' but no that stupid dying lama tent zipper had to ruin it. Unzipping is usually a silent task for me, I wonder what trucks and chainsaws are going to sound like, ear piecing imagined. For a short while I sat still, I was caught in a 'not so daydream,' I wasn't scared for my future, I just knew it wouldn't be same from now on.
As if Dylan knew what I was thinking he looked over at me."You know, not all sounds are going to be this loud. First training sesh starts today and that lesson is going to be on controlling your hearing. It's quite a cool one actually, it's like turning it on, then turning it off, adjusting the volume," he shrugged his shoulders and continued eating.
"So back there," I tilted my head to the tent behind us, "my powers started to kick in?"
He thought about it for awhile before answering, "well kinda. I guess you could put it that way, it was just a sign letting you know like 'yoohoo you better start training now' you're lucky the wolf growing gave you a signal. Just unfortunate it happened just as you woke up," he laughed.
I nudged him with my elbow, he can my me smile in what ever situation, something I have been falling I love with ever since I met him, the ability to make me smile.
"Is the wolf inside of me screaming for help?"
He gave me an unusual look but straightened up as soon as he realised I was being serious, "um hmmmm put it this way," he cleared his throat, "the girl inside of you is screaming for help... Not the wolf."
The first morning was a big blur. Dylan teaching me these, I don't know 'exercises' that help control my hearing was sorta failing, my ears were still sensitive. I'm tired already and we have been here for almost an hour now. He snapped another innocent stick from 30m or so away, "what about that?" He yelled across the clearing. I nodded my head signalling it still hurt.
"You have to breath Elexis!"
"Well no duh!" I sarcastically replied pulling a face.
