Over the next days I started my new crappy schedule and bought a new phone at one of the small shops in town, so far the only few lonely numbers are Avi, the hospital, Foggy, and Karen. Quite sad really.
"Well on the bright side we have the same schedule now." Avi says as he bumps his shoulder with mine, trying to cheer me up because of my new night shift.
"Yay!" I say sarcasticlly as we walk out the coffee shop.
"Wanna sleep at my place before work tonight?" He asks as we make it to the bus stop.
"Sure." I smile lightly at him before staring out into the busy street, waiting for the bus to arrive. In the corner of my eye, I see Avi look down at me, studying my every move.
"Hey you alright, besides getting the crappy schedule?" He asks nudging my shoulder. I look up at him and flash a smile.
"Yeah, of course." I answer as cheery as I can.
"You sure, you have this sad look in your eye lately. You know you can tell me anything, right?" He reminds me. I smile and nudge his shoulder back.
"I know, who else would I talk to." I wink up at him before getting out my metro card as I see the bus turning the corner.
"True, I am your only friend." He teases. I scoff with an open mouth before waving down the bus. Avi gets on first as I lag for a moment, feeling a sensation of chills run over my back. I turn around, the hairs on my arms rising as I look for whoever is watching me.
But there's no one. Only busy people rushing down the streets, living their own lives not paying an ounce of attention to me.
I shake off the feeling and enter the bus, paying the driver and taking a seat next to Avi.

"You ready to go?" Avi asks as he taps my shoulder. I turn around and nod as I place my coat over myself.
"Lets get this long ass shift out of the way." I sigh as I zip up my coat and place my hands deep in my pockets, readying myself for the early December weather.
"It's not that bad once you get used to it." He scorns as he opens the door for me. I mimic him under my breath as we walk to the elevator.
"Someones in a bitchy mood." He teases as we enter the elevator.
"Yeah, tell that to my social life." I sigh feeling the cold hit my face as we exit the elevator and his complex.
"What social life. You have no friends." He reminds me with a wide toothy smile as he unlocks his Mercedes. I slide in and buckle up.
"Wowww." I sigh at him as I shake my head in disappointment. He laughs at my antics as we continue to bicker on our way to work. Once we arrive we shrug off our coats.
Avi places his shoulder length black hair into a small tight bun before grabbing his clipboard and bidding me goodbye as he makes his way to his level and I go to my emergency room floor. I too place my shorter hair into a bun and head to work, waiting for anyone to enter in need of instant emergency surgery.
When the clock strikes twelve in the morning multiple bangs erupt around the city, shaking the lower groud level of the ER. I grab onto the secritary desk as objects start to fall onto the floor and yells surround me. My heart pumps as my eyes widen in fear as I look around me. In the next surrounding minuites the sliding doors open and dozens of people flood in. I run to do the door seeing a familiar face.
"Foggy? Karen? What happened, are you okay?" I ask in worry as I run up to them, pushing past people that run into me. I see them holding an elderly woman who is bleeding in their arms.
"I'm okay, Elena isn't." Foggy tells me in a quick paced tone. I nod quickly and lift her to rest against my shoulders.
"Where are you hurt ma'am?" I ask her as I keep pressure the wound on her forehead.
"Lo siento en todos partes. Dolor en todos partes." She tells in a hazy tone refering to her pain.
"Todo estara bien. Soy amiga de Foggy y Karen." I tell her trying to calm her nerves as I scan my hands over her body, checking for anything broken.
"Novak we need you!" Someone yells behind me, grabbing my attention at the long line of people needing surgery.
"Lo siento, necesito operar a otras personas, lo derivaré a nuestra mejor enfermera, ¿de acuerdo?" I explain to her quickly as I walk her over to one of the nurses available.
"Lo siento." I apologize again but she waves me off and taps my face lovingly.
"Gracias mi amor." She says with a smile. I smile back at her and run into the operating room, placing a mask over my face and grabbing a plastic hair cap and gloves, getting prepared to operate.
For the next hour, patient after patient on the verge of seeing the light burst through the operating room and are laid before me.
I run back out into the lobby grabbing a water bottle only to run into Avi.
"What are you doing down here?" I ask as I wipe my wet forehead with my scrubs.
"They called me down because of the hundred of people needing assistance." He says as we run back to the operating room together, hearing the screams of pain.
"Good, we need all the help we can get." I answer before separating from him and continuing to move onto my next patient.
