"This is gonna hurt." I whisper as I clip the last stitch. Matt let's out a pained groan before closing his eyes and sighing.

"You okay?" I ask causing his eyes to open.

"You asking about the stitches?" He questions causing me to shrug.

"Half of it." I answer honestly before putting away the scissors.

"How'd you open your stitches up?" I ask him with a tired tone.

"Just wanted to see how much I can move." He sighs as I continue to put things away.

"I told you, you shouldn't be moving." I remind him earning me a soft exhale.

"I know." He whispers.

"You need to heal." I inform him as I start to get up and find the bandages I bought this morning.

"I meditate for that." He smirks causing me to scoff.

"Is that what your doing when I wake up at 3am to use the bathroom?" I ask him referring to the countless times he's scared the shit out of me.

"Yeah, helps with pain and healing faster." He explains in a groggy voice.

I return and laugh slightly under my breath.

"So that's why your still alive." I joke causing him to smile.

"Or I'm just a contrary son of a bitch." He jests back.

"You need to be more careful Matt. I don't feel like stitching up my boyfriends corpse next time...and get some armor like I told you." I sigh as I look down at his shirtless cut up body.

"Yeah I'm thinking you might be right." He sighs as he starts to get up, groaning in pain. I grab his arms and help him sit up as I whisper under my breath, "Well that's a first coming from you."

"I didn't tell Foggy this, but when Fisk came at me in the warehouse. I sliced open this jacket." He informs me as I start to paste on his bandages.

"Did you cut him?" I ask with wide eyes.

"No...he was wearing some type of armor in the lining. Nothing I've ever seen." He whispers.

"Well he's smart, unlike you. Plus the bastard has all the money in the world." I whisper as I add one last bandage.

He looks in my direction before sighing and slipping a zip up sweater over himself.

"You need to heal, Matt. I won't be here tomorrow." I sigh as I put my bag together.

"Why?" He questions as he gets up and follows me around the apartment.

"I work tomorrow, remember. Plus I have to talk to Avi." I sigh, already fearing tomorrow's events.

"How long are you gonna be gone tomorrow?" Matt whispers as he leans against his wall.

"Why? Gonna miss me?" I tease as I look up at him.

"And what if I said I will?" He asks causing me to sigh.

"I'll say I need to be careful." I tell him as I pull my hair back.

"I-I don't understand." Matt whispers confused at me.

"Matt this is the second time I thought you were gonna die. This feeling of helplessness is taking a toll on me." I explain causing him to sit on his sofa.

"You want me to stop? We've talking about this..." He sighs causing me to throw my head back in annoyance.

"I know you can't stop, Matt. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying there's always gonna be someone, now it's Fisk. Later...I don't know. But you know Fisk isn't gonna be the end right?" I ask him as I find a seat in front of him, my eyes scanning over his bruised face.

"I'm sorry you got pulled back into this." Matt says under his breath, disappointed in himself. I sigh and give him a sad smile as I pull some hair off his forehead, fixing it slightly.

"This is my life now, no going back." I tell him causing him to frown.

"You don't get anything out of this life." He sighs as he bends his head down to his hands.

"Not true, at least I get to see you with your shirt off again...so it's not all bad." I tell him as I wiggle my brows.

"Is that what you do when you're saving my life? Stare at my abs?" He questions with raised brows and a smirk.

"Oh yeah." I tell him as I scrunch up my nose and chuckle. I press my lips to his forehead before stepping back and looking around his apartment.

"What's in that bag?" Matt asks as he bobs his head to the side.

"That right there, is the good in the world." I speak with a smile before grabbing the bag and giving it to him.

His hand roams in the bag before looking up at me confused.

"The good in the world are Christmas lights?" He asks me with a scoff.

"Yes! I hear no one does Christmas like America." I tell him earning me a chuckle.

"Is this your way of cheering me up?" He asks reading me like a book.

"Maybe, just shut up. Tomorrow's gonna be hell for me, just give me today." I wine causing him to sigh before a smile spreads onto his face.

"Fine." He gives in causing me to smirk.

"You are such a sucker." I tease as I turn around to set the bag on the floor, earning his hand to smack my rear at my statement.

"Aren't you in crippling pain?" I ask over my shoulder with one raised brow.

"I have it in me for some fun." He whispers before tugging my hand and bringing my lips to his.

"See, isn't this better?" I ask him as I point to his red and green lit apartment.

"I don't know, I am blind." He jokes causing me to roll my eyes.

"Don't use that excuse on me, I know you know your apartment is boring without me." I remind him causing him to chuckle.

My phone dings causing me to dig it out of my pocket and glance at the name 'Avi' written on the top.

"Who is it?" Matt asks probably sensing the change in my heart rate.

"Avi." I whisper as I open the message.

"What'd he say?" Matt asks as he walks closer to me slowly, still in pain.

"He wants to come over and...talk?" I say with a strange tone.

"Talk?" Matt asks confused as well.

"He wants to talk to the devil of Hell's Kitchen." I whisper as I look up at Matt.

"Done, tell him to come over than. I'll put on my suit." Matt tells me as he already starts to get ready.

"Hold on, hold on. Just like that? Matt your still hurt." I sigh as I grab a hold of his wrist.

"It's not like I'm gonna fight Avi, he wants to talk, let's talk." Matt tells me in a quick tone.

"Fine." I sigh, texting Avi to meet at Matt's apartment in 30 minutes.

This can't get any worse.
