Yo wanted the twins to be boys. Not because he thought boys were better than girls, far from it! But he wanted to be able to pass down Pha's family name. He gently massaged his growing baby bump, a soft smile on his face as Love wriggled and cooed while playing with her toes on the blanket Pring had made her, on the floor. No, Yo didn't think boys were better than girls. He dearly loved his and Pha's precious little Love. But...he still thought it would be nice if he could give Pha at least one boy to carry on the Kongthanin name.
Ming was sitting on the couch next to Yo, trying not to fall asleep. The twins were with Beam and Kit so Ming could tag along to the doctor appointment. From what Yo could decipher when Ming showed up a little bit ago, the twins had been fussy most of the night, keeping both Ming and Kit up, and causing what little sleep they'd gotten to be broken up.
"Ming, if you just want to stay here and nap, that's fine with me," Yo said softly. He patted Ming's shoulder to get his attention when he didn't respond.
"Hmm?" Ming yawned, stretching his arms out in front of him. "What'd you say, Yo?"
Yo gave him a no-nonsense look. "You should stay here and get some rest. You look dead on your feet, Ming."
"The curse of being a new mom," Ming joked. It was ruined by a large yawn. "Ignore that."
His cousin chuckled. "I have a feeling P'Pha and I are gonna be run off our feet when our twins are born. Aish."
Ming, even as tired as he was, still managed to give Yo an evil smirk. "You'll get to experience firsthand what having to take care of twins is like."
"Don't forget, I experienced pregnancy first. You had to ask me for advice."
"True."
Pha picked up Love to get her ready to go, amused at the sleep exhaustion-induced conversation. Arguing about who went through what first when it had to do with the kids was funny to him. Pha took Love into the nursery to get her cleaned up and changed, dressing her in a cute shirt Narissa had given the young couple.
"Hey, babygirl. Ready to see your siblings?"
Love squealed as Pha blew a raspberry on her tummy, kicking her feet and blowing bubbles to show her delight. Pha carried her back out to the living room. Yo was no longer sitting on the couch, but humming to himself in the kitchen as he got himself some juice to drink. Ming ambled out to whisper with him, something Pha couldn't hear.
No matter. Pha knew any secrets those two had would eventually come out. They couldn't keep things from Pha or Kit for very long, so there was no need in asking or pressuring.
"Yo, are you about ready?"
"Yes, P'Pha," Yo called back.
Pha's mind went back to that one time he'd coaxed Yo into calling him Phana, no Phi. He wondered if there was any chance of getting Yo to drop the 'Phi' permanently. After all, Yo called the other seniors just by their name, no 'Phi' at the beginning. What would it take to get Yo to call him just Pha after this?
