Home life wasn’t that bad there. We weren’t exactly well off, but we got by. We lived in a two-story town house in the small town of Rockford Falls. It’s pretty decent in size, but it seemed to double in size when my father had left. I lived with my mother and my younger sister Ella. Ella was a small energetic child. She was born a few years before my dad’s final departure from home. She was 5 when he died. Most days, I’d have to babysit her while my mother was at work. Because of this, a strong bond was formed. We told each other every secret we had and played little jokes on our mother for fun. We didn’t have a lot of the fancy technology most kids our age did, but we had each other and that was enough to get by with. I remember when she was getting picked on by some older boys, on a hot, summer day in August. I became furious and almost attacked those children, but when I scared them off she told me to calm down and that she was ok. She reassured me with a hug and that was enough to calm me down. This bond would go through its tests at times and come close to breaking, but it never did. We stayed together as friends, and more importantly as family, through any fight we had. She is such an important person in my life.

…. Even when our friendship was tested during the fallout, we still never stopped being friends. We watched each others’ backs and helped each other through every adversity that crossed our path. No matter what happened, We’d stick together as family. If everything else fell through, we’d still have each other to try to get through this hell on Earth
