On the way to try to get Myra, Aubrey, Brayden and I reminisced over the old times. Long summer nights, snowy winter days, the fun we used to have. We all missed it. Brayden and I got into a friendly argument over who was the better driver. I brought up how many times I had won as opposed to him. He argued that I was lucky, as most of those victories were very close. "A win is a win. It doesn't mater if it's by a mile or an inch," I said with a smile. "You barely out did me," he came back with. "I still outdid you," I said with a laugh. He tried to get more words out, but just stayed quiet. Aubrey and I laughed and he joined in. "You are both idiots," she said. "Well, you're stuck with these idiots," I said still laughing. We continued to talk and reminisce. Before we knew it, we could see that the description of the place was wrong. It wasn't a small town, but a city. The city of Erie. We rose over a hill on a road and saw the lake. That lake holds memories. My family used to come up here when my dad was home from Afghanistan. We'd spend warm summer days on the beach building sand castles and swimming in the lake. We'd go visit the light house and Presque Isle state park. One of my favorite places was the amusement park. Everytime we came into Erie, we'd go to the amusement park. It wasn't a spectacular amusement park. It wasn't huge. It didn't have the biggest rides. It was just my size. By the time I was 10, I was able to compete with my dad in the games. We'd go to the arcade and compete to see who could win the most games between us. Mom would join in and we'd have an amazing time. Ella even won a few games. I loved this city and seeing it in this decayed state killed me inside. It's like my memories are slowly dying or dead. This was a place I'd come to to reminisce. To remember my father. And now it's dead. Buildings reduced to rubble and glass. Cars overturned and destroyed. The dock was barely a dock anymore. There were only a few buildings in decent shape. We drove around the city to try to find where Myra might be. We drove by the hospital and before we knew it, we were surrounded by a huge group of people. They had guns with them and had our truck at gun point. They were yelling at me to get out. I told Aubrey to keep Oliver safe and I'd go out to talk. I exited the vehicle with my hands up. "Who are you and what are you doing here," yelled a the man in front of me. "I'm Xavier. I come from Rockford falls, about an hour from here. My friends and I are looking for someone. Would you be willing to help me find her?," I asked. "Why are you looking for her," he yelled at me. "We are trying to go get my sister. The government took her away from me before I could get home from Afghanistan," I replied. "Are you with the military!?," he yelled even louder. "No, I'm not. I'm a former Marine. Since the TGOEP took over, I vowed to never work for the military or government again," I replied calmly. TGOEP is the name of the New World Order. He lowered his rifle. "We too are anti government. Our city was destroyed just two days after the apocalypse started," he told me. "My town suffered the same fate. They also took my sister, as I mentioned earlier. I'm on the look out for someone to become the final member of our team," I told him. Right after I finished the sentence, someone emerged from the crowd. A short, tan woman with dark hair. Her dark brown eyes met mine and I knew exactly who it was. "Myra?," I asked. "You havent changed a bit," she said. I wasn't very good friends with her, but we got to know each other over the years. "What are you doing here?," she asked me. "I'm here to talk to you," I replied. "I have a proposal for you." "And that is?," she asked. "I'd like you to come help me rescue Ella. The government has her." Her eyes grew wide. Myra wasn't close to me, but was very close with my sister. I saw a fire in her eyes. "Of course I will. When was she taken?," she asked frantically. "Just days after the apocalypse began. The government destroyed Rockford Falls, killed my mom, and stole my sister. I'm out for revenge against the government," I said. "Count me in," she replied instantly. With that, she said her farewells to the group of people and headed to the truck. That was way easier than I expected, I thought to myself. "Is there someplace we can stay the night at? We got up very early and don't want to head back just yet." "Yeah. There's a lot of abandoned buildings in suburbs around Erie. Ill take you to one," she said. We got to the truck and got in. I reintroduced Myra and we talked for a few minutes. After about 15 minutes, we began our search for a place to stay...
