We went to a small suburb about 15 minutes away from Erie. As we arrived, I noticed something. It was barely touched. I was confused. How could this place be abandoned? "I thought this place was abandoned," I said to Myra. "It pretty much is. The government sent in squads to sweep the area and to remove everybody from the area," she replied. "They left without much of a fight and the government used this place for housing for a few weeks. When they found a bigger, more suitable place down south, they all moved."I looked around. Maybe this would be a nice place to stay. Maybe we could make this a little hub. As we drove into the small town, I let Tim know about what happened and where we were. He'd landed outside of Erie so he wouldn't raise alarm. Within minutes I saw him coming over the horizon. There was abandoned elementary school with enough space to land. We met him there and planned our next moves. "We should scout the area for more people to join," I said eagerly. "How do we know we can trust them. They are in a safe environment. Why would they join us?," Tim replied. "Most people were driven out and many families were seperated because of the government. Some must want revenge for what has happened," I shot back. "It's worth a shot," added Brayden. "I'm liking the idea," said Samson. Pretty soon, everyone was in agreement. We armed ourselves with small concealed arms and went to search the town. We split into three groups and Tim stayed back in the chopper in case we needed to escape quickly. Oliver and Aubrey were in the safety of the chopper. I was with Brayden, Riker and Myra were together, and Denise and Samson were a team. We went straight, Riker and Myra took the left, while Denise and Samson went right. We went up to houses calmly checking to see if anyone was left. We got to a white house on the left side of the road and knocked on the door. When the door opened, two teenage boys about 17 appeared in the doorway. They were about the same size as each other, one had brown eyes the other greenish blue, and their complexion was slightly different. The one boy had brown hair that wasn't too dark or too light. The other had dark brown, almost black hair. "What do you want?," said the boy with greenish blue eyes and lighter brown hair. "We were looking for people, but we'll be on our way. You boys are too young," I said as I began to turn away. He put his arm on my shoulder. "Why are you looking for people," he asked. "Nothing," I replied. "Please, tell me," he said desperately. I turned around and looked him in the eye. "We are looking for people to help us fight the government. We need people willing to risk their lives for the cause. I don't want to put you guys through that," I said. "We are willing to fight. Our families were taken away from us because of the government. We'll do anything to get back at those bastards," he replied with anger. "Are you sure?," I replied. "Yes. Please come in so we can discuss this, sir," he replied. "Thank you for the respect," I replied as I walked in the door. We got comfortable and introduced ourselves. The one with lighter brown hair and greenish blue eyes began. "I'm Caleb," he said. "I'm Anthony," Said the other boy. "I am Xavier and this is Brayden," I said to them. "Nice to meet you two," Brayden said with a smile. "Same to you," said Anthony. We talked and got to know each other fairly well. "We are set up down at the old school. Would you like to come with us to meet the rest of the group?," I asked. "sure. Let's go," said Caleb. We left the house and walked down the school. When we got there, there were three more people I'd never seen before. There was a taller woman, about 5'7, a man that looked to be around 21, and an older gentleman that was probably in his 40's. The woman had light brownish-blonde hair and green eyes. Her name was Evelyn. The young man had blonde hair and blue eyes. His name was Paul. The older gentleman had greying black hair and dark, dark brown eyes. His name was Gregory. We got acquainted and talked for a while. By the time night had fallen, we were laughing and telling stories and jokes. There were houses right next to and across from the school, so we stayed there. We'd be on three person watch to check over the vehicles and supplies just in case. I had first watch with Riker and Caleb. Nothing happened at all. 2nd watch went to Denise, Samson, and Anthony. Nothing happened there. It was during the switch between second and third watch that something happened. A convoy was passing through the town and spotted our vehicles. They got out and were beginning to take supplies. Samson first noticed and told the others to get everybody up. We each had a rifle in case of emergencies. We got into positions of cover and opened fire. We took out anybody that wasn't within a foot of cover. The enemy also began to open fire on us. We were able to find more advantageous positions in houses surrounding the enemy and easily pick them off. The enemy wouldn't go without a small victory though. Withing hours of meeting him, Greg was shot and killed by the enemy. With through the head. I saw him drop and my heart instantly sank. We continued to open fire and eventually the fighting ceased. We went over to check the dead bodies for anything useful. I spotted a man that was still able to move with a pistol in his hand. He had it aimed at Tim. Right before he could fire a shot, I kicked his hand as hard as possible and began to stomp it into the ground. I heard bones crushing and saw blood, but didn't stop until I was satisfied. "Dude, Xave, stop," Brayden said to me. I continued. "His hand is broken! Let him go!," he said raising his voice. I didn't stop. Brayden finally pulled me away. "What the hell is wrong with you!?," he yelled at me. "You're becoming just like one of them! Control yourself!" He began to calm down. "Look, I know you're upset that they got one of our guys, but calm down. We defeated them and made them pay." I looked at him and nodded. Maybe I was becoming a monster like them. No, I'm not one of them. I was better than that. It gave me something to sleep on though. We went back to the house and normal shifts continued through the night. Nothing else eventful happened for the rest of the night...
