During breakfast, we got to know each other. Riker was about my height, maybe an inch taller. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. He wasn't built too much bigger than I was, probably around 170 lbs. He told us he went to school for pyrotechnics. He was good with explosives. He told us about his career in small movies and his life before the apocalypse. His wife and daughter were his world. He did everything in his power to keep them safe and protect them. "But in the end, I failed," he said staring at the ground. His voice sounded hollow, dead. "I'd do anything to get them back. My boy was my pride and joy. My wife and I have been together since the tenth grade." "All of that was taken away from me within a matter of minutes." He reminded me so much of myself. Oliver was my pride and joy. That got me thinking. "Riker, I know this is soon, but would you like to help us?," I asked him eagerly. "With what?," he replied. "To take down the oppressive New World Order that has formed. To bring freedom and liberty back to the people of the world." Without hesitating he agreed. I smiled. "Excuse me," I said as I got up. I signaled to Brayden and Aubrey to follow me. "Do you think we have enough people to go get her?," I asked Aubrey. "I think we do. Where they are holding her isn't that heavily guarded." "I'm going to get her back, if it's the last thing I do." We had a plan to rescue someone. That person was Ella. I didn't mention it earlier, but she had been captured the day before I arrived home. The reason Aubrey and Oliver had survived was they were out of town and came back. That's why they were in as much shock as I was. "We need one more person, maybe," she said unsure of herself. "Who?," I asked. "A scout," she replied. "I know just who, too. Do you remember Myra?," she asked. "Yeah the sly one... oh I see. You think she'd be a good scout?," "I know she will," she said with a smirk. " Do you know where she's at?," I asked. "A town about an hour from here," she replied. "We'll leave in three days," I said. "Agreed," said Brayden. "Agreed," said Aubrey. We went out and explained the situation to the group. They agreed to the plan. We'd leave early in three days...
