Long summer days in Rockford Falls were the best. Brayden and I would go back into the woods and pretend to be soldiers fighting in wars. Our favorite wars to reenact were the Vietnam War and World War 2. Sometimes we'd be soldiers in Afghanistan where dad was stationed. I'd pretend to be him and always take on the huge army by myself and be the hero of the battle. Those were some of the happiest days of my life. When wars were games and weren't a reality to me. On some nights, we'd conduct a secret stealth mission to gain intel for the next days battle. On most nights we'd catch fireflies and watch the stars. We'd talk about our favorite sports teams, cars, and the latest military news. It was on a late summer night during our last summer break before we wnt highschool. Once we got the news, we instantly made a promise to join up as soon as possible.We'd go off to fight and and become heroes. We'd earn lots of medals and make our families proud. We'd ramble for hours and hours about the places we'd go and the battles we'd fight. We'd become even closer during these times of war. Webecame as close as brothers. We made more pacts bout if one of us got injured or killed and how the other would help with the dead ones family and so on. We had eachothers backs until the end. No matter what, we'd always help the other no matter the anger of the situation.... I wish I could go back to these long nights going on about how great the war was. We had no idea how horrible war was. We thought it was like the way movies depicted it. We were horribly wrong about this...
