It was a cool fall day during my senior year about a week before homecoming. Aubrey and I had become very, very close friends. My feelings for her never changed. In fact my feelings grew stronger. I still liked her. Liked her a lot. More than liked her. I loved her. We were walking through the park talking. "How do you like your classes?" I asked her. "They are ok. Not too difficult." We laughed and talked for a bit. "Hey, I have a question for you." I've been wanting to tell her how I've felt since we started dating. I could never find the courage to. It was now or never this time. I was set to go to boot camp at the end of this school year. I had made up my mind on the last day of school that I was going to ask her to Homecoming this year. She turned and looked at with a wide smile on her face. "What is it?" "Would.. Would you like..." My face got red and I looked down. She lifted my head up. "Of course I will" she said with a big smile on her face. My face got bright red and I smiled back at her. I could barely contain my excitement. We hung out for the rest of the day and discussed plans for the night a week away from today. I walked her home and raced home to sleep. I wanted time to pass as fast as possible. I couldn't sleep, no matter how hard I tried. I was just too happy and excited to fall asleep. After a few hours I eventually fell asleep. That week went by fast and before I knew it, the day had come. I put on my tux and got into my car. I took a deep breath and pulled out of the driveway. When I reached her house I got out and knocked on her door. He mother answered the door. "You look very handsome Xavier." she said with a smile. "Thank you Mrs. H" I said with a smile back. She invited me in and we talked for a while, while I waited for Aubrey. When she walked down the stairs, my jaw dropped. "How do I look?" she asked. "You look amazing" I said with a smile. I got up and we went outside to take some pictures before I left. We drove to the dance and had an amazing time. I drove her home, but before she got out, we had a chat. "You looked absolutely beautiful tonight" I said with a giant smile on my face. She blushed and tried to hide her face. "Thank you Xave." "I have one more question for you." "What is it Xave?" I paused and took a deep breath. "Would you...Like to..." I blushed and looked down. "Im sor..." I was interrupted again like I was back on my first day of Middle school. This time I was interrupted by a kiss. "Yes I would love that" She said after she ended the kiss. I was so happy. I took her to her door and gave her a goodnight kiss and drove back to my house.

...This is probably the happiest night of my life. We would eventually get married at the end of the school year before I headed out for boot camp. It was both a sad and happy time for me. I had to say goodbye to the love of my life, but I got to say hello to what I've been dreaming of since the daymy father died.
