Chapter 16: Back to Work

After a few days, Jungkook has healed enough that Taehyung goes back to work. When he walks into the hospital, all of his hyungs look at him in shock.

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at home with Jungkook?" Jin asks when he and the others surround Taehyung.

"My days off are finished, and Jungkook is better. He'll most likely fight tonight." Taehyung explains as they all walk to their offices together.

"Tonight?" Jimin asks Taehyung shocked.

"Mhm." Taehyung smiles and walks into his and Jimin's shared office.

"Why tonight?" Jin asks as he follows them into the office.

"Because he's getting restless. He's a wolf. He needs to blow off some steam. He has enough money to never do anything ever again, but he does enjoy fighting." Taehyung explains as he looks over the new patients' files he will be receiving.

"Having mates with built up testosterone is definitely something else." Jin chuckles.

"Yup." Jimin agrees and grabs his files from his desk.

"Are golden retrievers that way?" Hoseok asks as he sits on the couch in the office.

"Apparently! You two go on for hours!" Jin dramatically points out.

"Hyung!" Hoseok screams and covers his face in embarrassment.

"I love that a grown man in his thirties just made that sound." Taehyung snickers as he looks at his embarrassed cousin.

"Why aren't you on your new mate leave?" Jimin asks when he realizes Hoseok and Hyungsik are both at the hospital.

"Because we decided to use that week to go on a trip in a few months." Hoseok happily explains.

"The perks of having an omnivore mate." Jimin sighs and flips through his files.

"So true. Jungkook isn't allowed to leave the city without going through a whole evaluation process. He has to get approved." Taehyung sighs and sets down his files.

"All Yoongi and Namjoon have to do is apply for a visa to travel to the destination, but it takes months to get the visa." Jin mumbles and sits on the couch next to Hoseok.

"Did the rules tighten?" Hoseok asked as he looked at his family.

"It's all because they are convicted felons." Jimin mumbles sadly.

"Yep. Namjoon was 12 when he was arrested." Jin sighs as he remembers Namjoon telling him about the time he was arrested.

"Yoongles was 11." Jimin whispers as he thinks about how scared his mate must have been.

"Jungkook was lucky that he survived outside of prison for so long." Taehyung mutters and closes his eyes as the events of that day flash through his mind.

"Why were Yoongi and Namjoon arrested?" Hoseok asks as he thinks about his friends being so young and scared.

"Yoongles was arrested because he raised his voice in frustration at his teacher." Jimin explains.

"Joonie was arrested because he was starving on the streets and ate food out of the dumpster. Apparently, it was behind an expensive restaurant, and they claimed that he was stealing." Jin cries as he thinks about his mate being so hungry that he ate food out of dumpsters.

"Yoongi won't ever have to worry about yelling at anyone because his feisty mate will do it for him. Namjoon will never have to worry about eating other's trash because his mate will always cook for him. And Jungkook will never have to worry about accidentally scaring someone because his mate is way scarier." Hoseok smiles as he thinks about how their lives have changed so much.
