Chapter 33: Let Go

"Four days? What does he mean?" Taehyung chokes out as he turns and looks at Dr. Choi, knowing that the doctor is talking about Jungkook.

"Dr. Lee, meet Kim Taehyung, the pregnant mate of the carnivore you are talking about." Dr. Choi angrily snarls as he glares at the now terrified doctor.

"Turn him off early? Why? Four days? What is going on?" Taehyung asks with terror in his voice.

"Taehyung, carnivores are only able to legally be on life support for five days. He has been on life support for one day already." Dr. Choi softly explains with pain in his eyes.

"What? Why? Can't people stay on it until the family turns it off?" Taehyung cries as he looks at Dr. Choi for an answer.

"I'm so sorry. It's the law. If I could, I would keep his heart beating for as long as you wished." Dr. Choi apologizes as tears stream down his face.

"No! No." Taehyung sobs and rocks in the wheelchair as he wraps his arms around his tummy.

"Woo, can't we do something?" Seojoon asks as he feels Taehyung's pain filling the room.

"Get out." Wooshik tells the doctor before he responds to his mate. "I  will look into it." Wooshik tells Seojoon once the other doctor is out of the room.

"Please. I can pay." Taehyung sniffles as he looks at Dr. Choi.

After their conversation, Seojoon wheels Taehyung back into the room. The moment Taehyung is next to Jungkook, he takes his hand and begins to sob. He leaves loving kisses in Jungkook's hand.

"Hey, Koo. We're going to be parents. I am so excited to have pups with you. Please don't leave me. You promised that you would be with me to face everything together. I love you. I know that I can't live without you. Please wake up." Taehyung cries as he holds Jungkook's hand and gently caresses his face.

As the few days go by, Seojoon stays by Taehyung's side. He knows that the fox must have family, but he is in too much pain to be able to think about anything else.

"Hello?" Seojoon answers his phone and walks out of the room.

"Hi, is this Park Seojoon, the head of the carnivore canine unit?" A man asks on the other end.

"This is. May I ask who I am speaking to?" Seojoon asks as he sits down on a chair outside of Taehyung and Jungkook's room.

"I am Park Hyungsik. I am calling because I was told that you were the person to ask about the victims of the attack." Hyungsik explains as he nervously paces around Jin and Namjoon's apartment.

"I am. Who are you asking about?" Seojoon asks as he pulls out a list of the victims.

"I am calling to ask about Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook. They are-"

"I know where they are. I am currently outside of their hospital room." Seojoon quickly answers and stands up.

"How are they? Are they ok?" Hyungsik quickly asks with hope in his voice.

"Taehyung is physically ok, but Jungkook is in a coma." Seojoon quietly answers and rests his forehead against the wall.

"Will he be ok? Will he wake up?" Hyungsik asks while trying to hold back his cries.

"It does not look like it. He can only be on life support for twenty more hours." Seojoon sighs and clenches his fists as he utters the words that make his stomach churn.

"What do you mean?" Hyungsik asks as he feels a scream wanting to rip through his body.

"Politics." Seojoon growls and flattens his proud ears in anger.
