Chapter 39: Let There Be Justice

As they walk into the courtroom, several protestors surround the court house; however, not all of them are in favor of the carnivores. Jungkook and Taehyung hold their pups to their chests when they see some of the protestors holding signs with hateful words saying that Jungkook and the others deserved what happened. There were signs with the word 'monster' painted in a bloody red.

When Yoongi reads the hateful signs scattered throughout the crowd, he pulls Jimin close and makes sure their kit and cub are hidden from the crowd. Jin instantly stares down the protestors who are against his mate and family while Namjoon wraps his tail and a protective arm around Jin's waist. Hoseok's ears flatten in anger while Hyungsik makes sure that each family member is ok.

Once they are inside, they are escorted to the courtroom seats behind the prosecutor. When the defendants are escorted into the courtroom, the family hides the pups from the attackers' view.

"If they make you uncomfortable, let me know. I will see what I can do." Seojoon softly tells the family as they stare down the attackers.

"Thank you." Taehyung smiles and answers Seojoon.

When the three judges walk into the courtroom, everyone stands and waits to be told to be seated. As they are sitting down, one of the bulls lifts his thumb to his throat and threatening slides it across his throat while staring Jungkook down. Jungkook does not react because he knows that he is being watched to see how he reacts to the outside world and threats. His actions have consequences for all of the carnivores and their families inside the fence. Every single move he makes is being broadcasted live for the entire city of thirty million hybrids to see.

However, Taehyung does not care what people see. He hisses and flattens his ears when he sees the threat towards his mate. Yeonjun and Hyunjin whimper when they hear their father's warning hiss. Jungkook gently rocks Yeonjun and pulls Taehyung closer.

"Fucking monster." Taehyung growls with his ears still angrily flattened on his curly white hair.

The judges notice the bull's threat and the omnivore's reaction. They also notice how Jungkook stays calm and ignores the bull.

"Your Honor, please remove the monsters in the audience! I don't feel safe!" The ram yells out and sneers at Jungkook and the other carnivores in the family.

"Silence in the courtroom!" The chief judge growls out and glares at the disruptive defendant.

Taehyung, Jin, Hoseok, and Hyungsik growl out in anger while Jimin hisses. They all stare down the defendants with dangerous threats in their eyes. Jungkook, Namjoon, and Yoongi fight the urge to fight back.

"Your Honors, the prosecution would like to request that the defendants be muzzled if they continue to threaten or try to frighten the victims." The prosecutor requests as he stands up.

"Request granted. Defendants, if you violently act out towards anyone in this courtroom, you will be muzzled." The Chief Judge informs the defendants and their attorneys who look very stressed.

As the prosecution presents the evidence, the video of the incident is played from beginning to finish. All of the judges and the audience grimace and look away at several points of the video. Taehyung quietly cries and looks away as he hears his mate crying out in pain as blow after blow is landed on his breaking body.

Jungkook pulls Taehyung into his arms and tries to shield him from the pain of reliving their nightmare. The pups softly whimper in their parents' arms when they sense their parents' pain.

"We're ok. We survived. That is the past. I am here." Jungkook softly whispers and soothes his mate.

By the end of the video, the judges are disgusted and mortified. They all shake their heads and take a few minutes in silence to calm down. When the Chief Judge looks up, she sees the pups safely tucked away in their parents' arms while their parents' eyes are filled with pain and fear.
