Lola's POV-

Fridays. I think the world could put their differences aside and agreed on the fact that Friday's are by far the best day of the week. Though I didn't have my class today, I had plenty to get done. I planned to call up Sarah and ask her again about moving in, maybe take a quick walk, and then knock some of my homework out, which I had not yet checked to see what it specifically was.

Sitting on my couch with the Office playing as a background noise, I went to my contacts and found Sarah's information, then tapped the phone icon.

Putting the phone to my ear, I listened to the monotonous ringing chime three times before she answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Sarah" I paused. "Uh, it's Lola. If you are free now, I was going to talk to you about moving in with me?"

"Oh, yeah, hang on" the other side went muffled.

I could hear someone yelling in the background, then heard a door close.

"Sorry" she huffed. "Yes. How soon can I move in?"

"I'm still trying to get my own stuff set up, but honestly whenever"

"Okay, then can I come tomorrow? I have cash I can pay half of this month's rent"

I was a little shocked she wanted to move in so quickly...

"Do you want to see the place first?" I asked slowly.

"You know, truthfully, I don't care at this point if rats and roaches live in your kitchen" she sounded flustered. "Bestie, you don't even understand how toxic this hell hole is"

"I can send you pictures" I suggested.

"Sure, whatever. Just send the address and I'll bring everything over tomorrow afternoon if that works"

"That's fine" I agreed.

That was easy...

"Alright, girly, I'll text you when I'm on the way"

"Perfect"

Someone started to yell again in the background and the phone went dead. Relieved that I had found a roommate, I shot a text to my mom and told her so she wouldn't keep hounding me about it.

I left my show running and went to change into something that I could take a walk in. My Alexa told me it was 42 degrees outside-a bit chilly for the second week of September-so I pulled on a jacket over my T-Shirt, then slipped on some boots.

Honestly, it wasn't too much of an inconvenience that my car battery had died. Besides school, I walked to the majority of places in my daily routine because this was Los Angeles. At the worst, it was just as easy to take a bus to the main areas.

After grabbing my apartment key and stuffing it into my purse, I headed out the door. I wasn't exactly sure of my destination. It was mainly just to get some exercise and Vitamin D. I tried to do this often since my life pretty much consisted of sitting on my couch and binge watching the Office while snacking on almonds, or sitting at my desk trying to get better at writing music.

The sedentary lifestyle wasn't for me, though. I wanted to get out and see more things I hadn't before, experiencing new adventures on my own or finding odd details in the small things that I had never noticed before.

It also gave me inspiration to what I did write. I loved anything that had to do with nature, and finding something like a wild dandelion or sunflower growing in the crack of the sidewalk by a building seemed like the spark I always needed to whichever metaphor I was going for.
