Lola's POV-
"Happy October first" Valentino greeted as we entered the studio for the second time.
I didn't even know we would be coming in today. In fact I only knew about it about an hour before we actually left. So I didn't have much time to get ready. I was literally in a pair of beige joggers and a muted brown crop top with a subtle floral pattern.
"Spooky season has officially begun" Harry responded.
"Indeed it has. Go ahead and follow me over here and we'll get started"
My boyfriend and I followed the manager to a room off the side of the studio. There was a single window to look inside, and there were blue fluorescents coming from some LED light strips. When he opened the door, a bunch of instruments were lying around, along with some other equipment like amplifiers, headphones, and a bunch of chords. There was another smaller room on the other side-a window on that one, as well. I could see Lorenzo sitting behind the sound board with his headphones around his neck as he stared down at his phone.
"Which one were we going to try to record today?" Harry asked Valentino.
"Well, I was looking through your portfolio" he shut the door of the recording part of the room and closed the curtain over the window that lead to the auditorium. "There was one that stuck out a lot to me. Lights Up?"
My boyfriend shook his head. "That's actually one that Lola wrote most of, so technically it's her song"
His manager looked at me. "Would you be willing to give the rights to Harry? I have a feeling it would really take him off"
"Uhm..."
"I'm unwilling" Harry spoke up. "It's her song. I'm not going to take credit for something she wrote, but I will gladly record any of the other songs in the book"
"Alright" he shrugged and picked up the notebook. "What about this one-Adore You?"
"That one works"
"Perfect" he looked at me. "You can wait outside or in the booth with Lorenzo. Your call"
"Thank you" I slipped back into the sound room.
Lorenzo's blue eyes flickered up to me, almost confused to see me, but he got up and grabbed a chair from the corner, dragging it over behind the table so I could sit with him.
"What are we recording?" he asked me.
"Adore You"
He didn't reply, but instead just sat back down and picked up his phone. From outside the tiny side room, I started eavesdropping on Valentino and Harry's conversation. They started doing some vocal exercises and he got Harry to sing along with a demo recording he had gotten a band to record for timing purposes.
After maybe twenty minutes, he stood up and came to the door. "Alright, I'll let you know when to start. You know the drill"
"I do" Lorenzo put his headphones on and began flipping on some buttons.
Valentino shut the door, so now I couldn't hear anything they were saying.
"Want some headphones?"
I looked up and saw Lorenzo peering down at me through his dark, thick eyelashes.
"Do I need them?" I asked.
"If you want to hear what's going on, yeah"
"Sure"
He reached under the table and fumbled in a box before pulling out another headset. After plugging it in, he handed it over. I positioned it comfortably over my ears.
