The next few days pass in a blur. You stay at the diner, with Anastasia and the kids. It doesn't feel like you are in danger at all, and for a moment you forget the harsh reality of the world you're in. The children grow on you. Each is different from the last, but all of them are equally sweet. Anastasia is kind, and she becomes something of an older sister figure. You become closer. Often, she references how the two of you are similar. After getting to know her, you wouldn't say so yourself, but the woman never explains her reasoning and just smiles cryptically when you question her.

You are having a tea party with Sakura when someone knocks. Anastasia is practically buried under some paperwork, and the boys are immersed in their game. Anastasia lifts her head from the paper. "(Y/n), would you mind checking who it is?"

Sakura's eyes sparkle and she grabs your hand. "Maybe it's Oda! Let's go look, please." The little girl drags you towards the door, and you smile to yourself. These children really love him, huh?

However, it's not Sakunosuke Oda outside the door. Your eyes fall on a tall man, armed with a gun. You instinctively push Sakura behind you, and that's the last thing you remember before the gun hits your head.

You wake up in a moving van. Or is it a bus? A moving vehicle, that's all you're sure of. Your vision is still blurry, but you recognize Anastasia's red hair and Kousuke's desperate voice. "It's Oda! Oda, help us please!" His small hand is banging on the window, and he continues to call out to Odasaku, until the other Mimic soldier has enough. He grabs the young boy and throws him away from the window. He lands next to you. His fragile face is swollen, probably from being punched. You're afraid to see what kind of state everyone else is.

Sakura's delicate arms latch onto yours, as she notices you're awake. Her body is shaking, and you notice she's trying to keep her sobs quiet. Anastasia scoots closer to you, the other kids with her. They're all in horrible state as well. You almost break down crying yourself.

"(Y/n), I'm going to need you to calm down and focus," she whispers. "You're our only way out. Please, use your ability and teleport us out of here."

Your voice cracks. "I-I've never teleported people with me, let alone this many. I don't even know if I can. What if something goes wrong?"

Anastasia shakes her head. "Everything is going to be okay. I know you can do it."

Sakura squeezes your hand. Shinji latches onto you as well, with Yuu, Katsumi and Kousuke right behind him. With everyone in a tight hug, Katsumi mumbles. "We said we were your bodyguards, but we failed to protect everyone. It's not going to happen next time, but we need to get out of here first. You can do it. We believe in you."

You don't question how Anastasia knows about your ability. You only focus on their encouraging words. Taking a deep breath, you shut your eyes. "Everyone, hold on tight!" you yell. The two Mimic soldiers turn their heads in panic and press the switch on the transmitter. The vehicle explodes.

The falling sensation envelops you comfortingly as you think of the place you feel the safest.

The exhaustion finally hits you. You let your body relax. The president's voice yells something and the last thing you see before passing out is Yosano's panicked face.

When you open your eyes again, you are met with the familiar infirmary ceiling.

You let out a sigh. This seems to be turning into a routine for you.

Someone is pacing around the room. It's Anastasia. There's a distressed expression on her face. The children are all in the room, living and breathing. They are sleeping in the infirmary's beds, and a relieved sob escapes you. They're safe.
