"I'm sending you on a mission to the Sky Casino."

"Huh?"

It's been a few weeks since the Azure Messenger case, and you are once again left in the dark about the plot. The President called you into his office to assign you a new case, so hearing him mention the Sky Casino – Sigma's Sky Casino – came quite as a shock.

"Yes," the president continues. "The Special Division for Unusual Powers received a tip: two of the most wanted thieves in Japan, who are also ability users, are hiding in the Sky Casino and possibly planning another robbery. In normal circumstances we wouldn't be allowed to act on the tip, because the casino is outside of the jurisdiction of any nation under international law, but the message and permission to act apparently came from the owner himself."

Sigma messaged the Special Division...? This doesn't feel right. Why would he do that? Surely, there are other ways to get rid of thieves.

"Okay... But why am I the one who's going? Doesn't the Special Division have their own agents or something?" You inquire, curios about the reasoning.

"They do, but they specifically requested it was you who apprehended the thieves. They were very impressed with you work on the Azure Messenger case and think you have a lot of potential. The Casino is also floating in the sky, so if anything goes wrong, your ability is the perfect way out."

You nod thoughtfully. "Alright, that makes sense. When do I leave?"

Fukuzawa slides you a folder across his desk. "As soon as possible. This folder includes details about the thieves and a photograph of the Sky Casino lobby, so you can teleport there as soon as you're prepared."

Quickly you skim through the contents of it, and realize Fukuzawa is right. There's a photograph of the lobby, personal information about the thieves (no photograph sadly) and a receipt for an expensive room at the casino. You realize the room is already paid for and thank the division mentally. If you had to pay it for yourself, it would've made a huge dent in your wallet.

The president wishes you luck and tells you to be careful on your way out, and you return to the main office. You let your co-workers know you're leaving. Ranpo asks for a souvenir and Yosano tells you to get hurt as much as possible, so she can take care of you when you come back. Dazai and Kunikida are currently out on a case themselves, so you just write them two small notes and leave them on their desk.

You pack your bags strategically since you're not sure how long this mission is going to take. Honourable mentions in your luggage include an elegant outfit you bought for formal events and a swimsuit, both making you feel like the hottest person alive. Not sure if you're going to use either of those, but it's better to be prepared.

Finally, you're ready to depart.

The Sky Casino lobby is absolutely beautiful. Crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling, the floor is covered in dark wood and there's classical music playing in the background. You admire your surroundings while you walk. So many different (and clearly rich) people are making their ways towards different directions, each with their own story. There's a beautiful blonde girl carrying an easel, two old ladies holding their hands, parents reminding their son to behave properly, an attractive man basking in the attention of ladies and gentlemen alike and many more.

Because you're so entranced by the atmosphere, you aren't careful where you're walking. You bump into a man, and all his things fall onto the floor.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going!" You apologize frantically.

The man chuckles and shakes his head. "Don't worry about it. To be fair I was not paying attention either." He bends down to pick up his things and you do the same, while taking in his appearance. He seems to be in his mid-forties. His hair is black with a grey streak in it, and he has a moustache to match. His warm brown eyes are focused on picking up his things, and you reach to pick up a notebook, who has fallen to the ground and opened itself when you crashed into the man.
