If it was anyone else, you'd have been worried about sounding insane. That your story would be so unbelievable, that even the Page couldn't help you. But this is Jouno Saigiku. Even without his super developed hearing, he would know you're telling the truth. He saved your life once. You trust him to believe you and do it again.

"I'm a spy. Wait, no that doesn't sound right. I'm a mole- that is even worse, please pretend you didn't hear it. Let me start again. I'm... collecting information, I guess."

"And by that, you mean...?"

You run your hand through your hair. "While working for the Armed Detective Agency, an opportunity came up to infiltrate a dangerous terrorist organisation, a top secret mission only a few people are aware of. I made up an excuse for why I was leaving, the Agency caught me in a lie and somehow started believing I betrayed them. After a successful infiltration, the leader of the terrorist organisation asked me to infiltrate the Hunting Dogs, to observe you or something. But I'm guessing it's more so I would be the one under his observation."

"You lost me somewhere with the Armed Detective Agency."

"Right, uh... Okay. Long story short: Fukuchi is the leader of said terrorist organisation, and I am here to spy on him and somehow fuck up his plans."

Jouno is quiet. Your heart feels like it could explode. He nods, face still blank.

You aren't aware that at that moment, Jouno thinks back on the feeling that lingers around you when you speak of the Agency. The melancholy that could almost be compared to grief. He understands it now and he compares it to feelings of his past, long buried in his subconscious. But you're the one standing in front of him now, not his past. He buries those feelings deep down again and focuses on what he feels around you. The feelings of wanting to wash the bloody hands of his past, the wish of a happy future and annoyance about your flaw of putting everyone else's life in front of yours, a flaw that feels almost contagious. He doesn't resist it.

"I believe you."

It feels like a massive weight has just been lifted off your shoulders and you slowly lower yourself to the ground with a shaky breath. "Oh thank god, I was worried it would affect you too..."

"What would affect me?"

The Book.

"Ah, nothing, nothing! I thought that your... unyielding trust in Fukuchi might cloud your judgement."

Jouno sighs at that. "Unwavering trust? Even if that was the case, I'm not the type of person to block my senses from the truth. Thinking about it now, there are some interesting things about his behaviour and heartbeat that I have noticed. I've just decided to ignore it until it becomes relevant. Considering everything you just said... I do have some questions for you."

"Of course. Ask me anything and I'll do my best to tell you what I know."

Jouno drops onto the floor, awkwardly positioning himself next to you on the cold floor. He seems uncomfortable, at least judging by the way his lips slightly curl with disgust. Oh well. He'll learn to appreciate the experience of floor sitting another day.

"What is justice to you, detective? It's a difficult question, I know, no need to answer right now. But to me... justice was always about preventing injustice in any way possible. I believe to be the strongest Hunting Dog and with my strength, I want to stop any and all injustice from happening. I will do anything it takes. I'm not one to shy away from violence, it's actually the opposite. You're different from me. You use your words instead, and it works. Because you're telling the truth. I was so focused on stopping injustice, but when it was happening under my nose I didn't bother looking into it. Blindly, I trusted the authority of my captain. It's probably nothing, I thought to myself. He has no reason to lie to us. And yet he did. How could this be the truth? I've given myself to the Hunting Dogs, to Fukuchi - the man who dragged me from my bloody past, for the sake of justice and yet – there is no justice to be found under his command."
