Hours of walking took a toll on loralie’s body. This place was huge, nothing like she had seen before. It looked so small on the outside, what had happened? Had she been passed out for so long that they decided to expand the facility? How old was she? What did she look like? Walking down another winding hallway, she saw something from the corner of her eye. Another hallway? What the hell, this place was a maze. Her eyes brightened when she saw numbered rooms with normal doors. Was it where the doctors stayed? They had to have their own room, right? She went to open one of the doors. Locked. Just her luck. Loralie grabbed the knife in her hand firmly and struck down the door. The adrenaline pumped through her veins, as she absolutely murdered the door. It gave in almost immediately, and she stepped through. There was a nicely made mattress on the floor with a blanket. Folded clothes were beside it, and a desk. Next to the clothes was a mirror. Loralie rushed to see her reflection. She looked the same as always, minus the eye patch and the fact that she was taller and slimmer. She was disappointed there was no change, but also felt better. They did nothing to make her look weird, which was a bonus. There was shoes, and other clothes. Nothing pretty, just simple. A white T-shirt, Black formal pants, a lab coat, black gloves and white long socks. Loralie slipped it all on, taking of the dirty cloths she had been wearing for months. She peered over at the desk, seeing papers all over it. Sitting down on the chair, she saw pictures of a family. She didn’t recognize anyone, but they seemed happy. A mother, a father, and a daughter. Slipping it into the pocket of her new lab coat along with the switchblade, loralie read some of the documents on the desk. “#36987 is on track. Blood pressure normal. 10/17/26” what? Were they labeled or something? When was this written? Was this year 2026 still? Or- her thoughts cut off. Loralie stood up from the chair, and stepped back out of the room. Were all the rooms this way? All she needed was a distraction from what she had read. Head blank, she went around smashing every room in the hallway. They were all the same, same outfits, same layout, but different things on the desks. Some had photos, some had letters from family, some had personal items, and some had absolutely nothing. Eventually she found Dr. Senka’s room. She knew because there was a picture of her and another girl around her age on the desk. They were holding hands in casual clothes, and extremely happy. The woman had a tall frame, bright eyes, and blue dyed hair. Dr. Senka looked so happy.. what happened to her? She, again, slipped the photo in her pocket. But then, something caught the corner of her eye when she opened the drawer. There was an open envelope with “Anne Senka” written on it. Loralie lifted it up. Anne was her first name, huh? She took a piece of paper out and read it to herself.

  “Dear Anne,

How are you? I’ve missed you so much, the house has been so lonely without you. Mittens keeps scratching the furniture, I might just skin her and eat her for breakfast. I’m just kidding, of course. She misses having her mommy around, you know. I guess we both miss you haha- hey is your new job doing well? You said you were only going to be gone for a little bit, are you okay? Did they hurt you? Please come visit home as soon as possible. I know this job is big for you, but come on you can’t live your WHOLE life there. Anyways, I miss you and I love you~!

                           Your girlfriend,

                                        Katie <3                 ”

Loralie put her hand over her mouth in shock. Dr. Senka?! A girlfriend? This was shocking news. Not that Dr. Senka had a female lover, but the fact that she had left this Katie girl all alone with a cat, and didn’t even talk to them. Had this facility not let them see their families or write back to them? She dropped the letter, and walked back out. Sweat was building on the back of her neck, making her uncomfortable. Loralie grabbed the knife from her pocket, and cut the bottom half of the lab coat she was wearing. Tying her hair up with the fabric, she felt confident. She had shoes, clothes, food, now all she needed was a place to hang out where she could get anything she needed in one place. Her feet hurt from walking everywhere, let alone running on glass. The food wasn’t something she really wanted, but she assumed that she could make the stew without the.. “meat”. It would be a veggie stew or something! Loralie smiled at the idea, and rushed back the way she had came. To the kitchen!
