Cruelty

Nikki was tired and weak, but as soon as she smelled the carrots the cat immediately jumped up, meowing and jumping like crazy. Loralie giggled, keeping the treats out of her furry companion’s reach. She tried her best to keep Nikki’s mouth out of her space, otherwise it would ruin loralie’s plan. Loralie tied a hammock like contraption, setting the carrots inside. They smelled so good, but she had to get Nikki up with her. She threw it up into the vent, again climbing up into it. It was harder the second time, due to her already using her arm strength the first time. She clung onto the edge of the vent, sweat forming all over her body. The strength she previously had ran out. She held on of her life, slowly slipping. Nikki was circling under her, looking for the carrots. Loralie couldn’t let go, or else Nikki would be crushed. Adrenaline and determination set in, loralie struggling to keep herself in the air. Suddenly, she pushed herself up. There was no other choice, she thought to herself. If she fell down, her friend would be pretty much killed. Pulling herself into the vent, she got her one leg inside, along with half of her body she strained herself to push her own limits. Then, what else but the worst happened. She slipped, and screamed. “no no no no-!” she yelled. Her hands aches and felt like they were going to split in half right there and then. Loralie was so close. At this rate, she might as well break her back. Her body was back to hanging by her arms. Then, her hand suddenly let go. Falling to the floor, she immediately regretted letting go. She could have held on a little longer. Nikki would be spared. The poor cat only wanted a friend. It felt like so long, they had such a great relationship together. Nikki had saved her life, giving her a reason to keep going. Loralie wanted to cry so badly, not only that but to reverse what she had done.
