Nikki’s death empowered loralie to keep going, for her kittens honor. She felt bad, a random strangers cat being killed by some random girl in a mental hospital. Her own mistakes are her downfall. Walking back to the vent, she climbed back up as best she could, there was no giving up now. He had fallen on her back, so she ached more than before. But, if she made the same mistake twice then loralie would most likely be dead. Clawing her way up more, loralie was about to give way once more. She thrusted her body upwards, clinging onto the vent. Loralie risked it with her eyes closed. It would be safer, if she knew the dangers that were coming if she swung her head upwards then she would likely mess up. Using her legs to pull herself up inside, she rolled out of the way and lay down. She was in. Putting the gate back, she kept her flashlight close. Another cold gust of wind came her way. “That’s where the air is coming from.” She said. Loralie felt proud of herself for figuring out how to escape. She couldn’t believe she didn’t figure it out earlier. Then again, they weren’t allowed in that section of the ward anyways, so there was no way any of them could figure it out. Crawling to the wind, it got more chilling the further she crawled. It was dark and scary, she didn’t know where it would lead either. Suddenly, after a few minutes of crawling, her knees began cracking and bleeding. Loralie kept going, seeing a distant light. The outside? She sped up, excited to see the outside world again. Climbing upwards, she was blinded by white. Gasping and squinting her eyes, she finally adjusted. Her skin was freezing, as she climbed all the way out. Fully opening her eyes once more, she was surprised by white snow everywhere. Looking around, she didn’t see anything but white. She soon realized why there were no windows in the facility, and why they weren’t discovered. The whole hospital was underground in the field between the ghost town and the city. She wanted to cry tears of joy, excited to be outside for the first time in forever. She soon realized she looked pathetic laying in the snow, so she immediately stood up and looked around in case anyone saw her. Heading back to the city, loralie realized something. She didn’t have her keys, phone, ID, nothing. And now she had to run back to the city in the cold. Loralie sighed and started back.
