They'd returned to the streets of New Orleans that they'd fought on, Nik easily scooping up his distressed daughter who was still in tears after being flooded with the tidal wave of pain and grief that her humanity switch had held back.
Nik had set his daughter to sleep in his bed, knowing that all of his kids, his daughters especially, took comfort in the scents of their parents after triggering the wolf side of them.
As Hope slept, they then filled their family in on what had happened, that Hope was back but she was in shambles, and they couldn't all treat her as if she was glass because that would only make her mad as it did anyone in their family. Mikaelson's didn't really like to admit their pain, and Hope was no different.
She was glad she didn't wake up alone though. Her mother sat in a chair next to the open balcony doors as she got lost in a book, the sun warm on her skin as the curtains that covered the glass doors blew softly in the cool breeze.
"Mom?"
"Hi, darling," Isa greeted as she set her book down, bookmark tucked in the pages before moving over to her daughter's bedside. "How are you?"
"I've been better," Hope nodded as her mother pushed some of the hair from her face. "It's a lot to deal with."
"I know. You get better at dealing with it over time. Unless you're Kol who acted out to get attention and didn't care about the scores of people he killed to do that," Isa tried to joke but her daughter gave no hint of amusement.
"How do I deal with it? How do I make it better?" Hope asked as she sat up and Isa sighed.
"Everyone deals with grief differently, sweetheart. You have to find your own way to do it."
Hope seemed a little crestfallen at that response, at least until her mother spoke again.
"Now, normally, your father and I don't condone this, but, you deserve some semblance of closure, so, just this once I think we can make an exception. That and your Aunt Kat with her self given psychology degree agree with helping you through the first stage of grief."
"An exception for what?" Hope asked with furrowed brows and her mother stood as she offered out her hands.
"Come with me."
Hope took her mother's hands, but made no move to get up as she said, "Wait."
Closing her eyes, their joined hands began to glow as the bond that Hope shattered began to piece itself together, their family whole again.
"I may not be able to fix a lot of the things I did while my emotions were off, but that is one thing that I can fix."
Isa's smile was sympathetic as she pulled her daughter to her feet and kissed her head before leading her out of the room.
Hope was severely confused at where her mother was leading her to in the tunnels under the city, at least that was until they reached the passageways that led to The Garden.
Isa's grip tightened on her daughter's hand as she led her into the cavern where a familiar redhead witch hung limply from the ceiling in shackles.
"Hope, I believe you know Elizabeth," her mother said as Hope's eyes widened and the veins beneath her eyes rippled and the witch looked up to her.
"You're the one that killed Carter," she said darkly, as her anger got the better of her and her fangs grew and her eyes changed.
"I rid the world of his beast-like kind! I'm only sad that I wasn't able to do the same to you and your monstrous siblings," Elizabeth spat, voice raspy and throat dry as Hope roared and tried to lunge but her mother held her back. Damn her husband and the werewolf temper he just had to give to his children.
"Do not confuse revenge with closure. You get to do with Elizabeth as you like, but she is to remain alive. She is to be used to vent your rage, but you are not to kill her. Do you understand me?"
Hope's glare was filled with fury that wasn't intended for her mother as she met her green eyes.
"I understand, Mom."
"Good. Your father or I will check up on you every hour until all the anger is out of your system," Isa explained before she kissed her daughter's cheek. "Have fun, my darling."
And she could already hear Elizabeth's screams as she walked back through the tunnels.
