Diana and Enzo were having a rather pleasant conversation, mostly her telling him about the wonders of the world and how it'd changed so much and stories about her family. He'd been rather intrigued to learn about the oldest vampires in the world and she'd been more than happy to tell him. It was a much happier topic after he'd told her all there was to know about Augustine.

Their conversation had come to a halt at the sound of rather enraged screams talking about how they were going to kill someone.

"Right on time, Uncle Nik," Diana laughed as she pulled herself to her feet using the wall.

"What's happening, love?" Enzo asked anxiously as he also got to his feet.

"Well, if I had to guess, I'd say Dr Whitmore probably took my Aunt as his first test subject and my uncle should be breaking out of his cell out of anger right around now. Which means he'll break out my parents, who'll come looking for me in about two minutes."

"How on earth could you possibly know that?" Enzo asked and Diana only grinned at the sound of something crashing loudly in the distance.

"Because I know my family."

"Diana!"

"Ana?!"

Called her parent's voices as she pushed herself against the bars with a grin.

"Told you so," she smirked. "Mom, dad! I'm over here!"

And with a blur, the couple was standing in front of her cell, her mother grabbing her hands and checking her over through the bars whilst Marcel was fiddling with a set of keys, trying to find the one that would unlock her cell.

"Are you alright?! They didn't do anything to you, did they?" she asked worriedly and Diana only smiled at her mother.

"I'm fine, mom. I promise."

Marcel then pulled the door open as a key finally turned and they pulled their daughter into a tight hug.

"Where's uncle Nik?" she asked after they pulled away and she pushed her hair out of her face.

"He's gone after Isa. We're going to find him now and then burn this place to the ground," Rebekah answered.

Diana spared Enzo a glance as she said, "Fire won't work. This place burnt down once and they just rebuilt it. You have to destroy it, not just burn it."

Marcel met Rebekah's eyes as he said, "We have to get to a phone. Call for backup."

His wife nodded as she said, "Let's go."

"Mom, wait a minute," Diana interrupted as she slipped the keys out of her father's hands and walked over to Enzo's cell, the vampire still pressed against the wall, not daring to move and not daring to hope.

The key slid easily into the lock, Diana's wrist turning with little effort as the lock clicked open and the hinges creaked as she pushed the door open.

He could smell her, her perfume.

Roses. He assumes it was roses since he couldn't actually remember what they smelt like but it felt flowery unlike the distinct coconut smell of her hair.

And she just seemed a lot warmer without those steel bars separating them as she offered him her hand.

"Want to see the world for yourself?" she asked and he floundered for a response, still in complete and utter disbelief as Diana reached for his hand. "If you like, you can stay with us and I can promise you that no one will ever be able to put you in a cage ever again."

"Thank you," he exhaled, unable to think of anything else to say.

Diana only gave him a smile as she squeezed his hand and let him take his time as he took his first tentative steps outside his cell.
