"Aw, honey, you look awful," Katherine cooed as she opened the safe to see a starving, emotionless Elena inside as she grimaced at the bright light. Elena who grunted in pain as Katherine threw her on the floor of the cellar in the Salvatore house.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Elena groaned.
"Your boyfriends invited me," Katherine said as she crouched down. "They want to know if you still have a heart."
Even if she was at full strength, Elena wouldn't have been able to fight Katherine as she hauled her up against the door of the safe with one hand while she plunged the other into her chest.
"There it is," Katherine smirked as she squeezed the organ making Elena gasp as her heart struggled to beat. "Your bodyguards won't let me kill you, not that they could stop me, but I can rip your throat out so I don't have to listen to you whine."
Air then flowed through Elena's lungs as Katherine let her go, dropping her to her feet as she withdrew her hands, one coated in blood that she look at with disgust.
"But first, satisfy my curiosity," she said as she moved to the door to pick up a cloth to wipe her hand as Elena slid down the door of the safe. "How was it switching from one brother to another?"
"That's why you're here?" Elena strained. "I'm surprised you're not asking about Elijah. Did he dump you yet?"
Katherine sped to Elena, hauling her back up on her feet.
"Leave Elijah out of this or I will feed you your own eyeballs," she threatened as she stretched Elena's eyelids open.
"I didn't have to tell him anything," she muttered. "What good would you be to anyone? A self-obsessed egomaniac who ran for five centuries. You're the definition of damaged goods. No wonder why he dumped you."
Katherine only laughed as she let Elena go, the sound cold yet full of amusement.
"Yeah, I've done some pretty horrible things to survive, unlike your boyfriends who did it for fun and unlike you, poor, delicate Elena, I don't turn it off," she snarled as she returned her hand to Elena's throat, cutting off her airways once more. "I deal with it. You wouldn't last a week as a vampire without everyone fawning over you," she spat as she threw Elena back inside the safe before heaving the latch shut. However, a deliciously wicked thought occurred to her as she slid the latch back open.
"But I'd love to see you try."

"All that pain and torture worked up quite a thirst," Katherine remarked as she filled up a glass with bourbon despite not having inflicted much pain onto Elena, who she'd deemed not worth her time.
"Couldn't have anything to do with the fact Elena called you out on your recent boy trouble? Sorry, couldn't help but overhear," Damon taunted, but Katherine only grinned, something that unnerved him greatly as his sire lifted the glass to her lips.
"Did you ever think Elena would've been much better off if she never met you?" Katherine asked.
"You trying to get a rise out of me? Because my emotions are fine. I love Elena. I despise you," Damon smirked as Katherine walked around the table that housed the liquor to the couch where he sat.
"Aw. so romantic," she pouted before planting herself on the armrest, her free hand playing with Damon's hair. "Yet, I find it hard to believe considering a) she looks exactly like me and b) you spent 145 years trying to open a tomb to rescue me because of how desperately in love you are with me."
Damon opened his mouth to retort before Katherine cut him off as she continued nonchalantly playing with his hair.
"And yet, the second she goes back to her old self, she'll go straight to Stefan. You're doomed to fail because that's the beauty of you, you never get the girl," she smirked evilly. A smirk that grew as Stefan walked into the room.
