"Mom, please," Diana begged as she followed after her mother who was taking fast strides as they walked into Nik and Isa's compound.

"Come on, mom. Be reasonable," Rey pleaded.

"No," Rebekah repeated for what felt like the millionth time. "Some traditions are sacred and this is one of them."

Diana only looked to her brother who nodded as they both yelled, "Aunt Isa!"

Rebekah sighed as she glared at her children, her arms crossed over her chest as the sound of heels on stairs filled the air.

"Bloody hell, everybody in this family needs their mouths sewed shut," Isa ranted as she walked down the stairs from the third floor. "Because supernatural hearing is an ability that every bloody Mikaelson possesses, so for the millionth time, you don't need to yell!" she yelled as she made her way into the courtyard. "What's the meaning of this?"

"Mom is the headmistress of NOA, yes, we understand that," Rey began.

"But everyone, be they studying for their diploma or degree, do not want to suffer through another 1920s decade dance again," Diana continued and Isa sighed.

Over 50 years ago the council of humans and supernaturals that ruled New Orleans under Marcel's instruction had encountered a problem.

The supernatural population had grown so vastly and now had all sorts of age ranges that it was becoming harder and harder for them to blend in at the regular schools in the city.

So, with their vast wealth, the Mikaelson's had constructed a school for every hybrid, werewolf, vampire and witch to be able to practice magic, learn control and just be kids. They'd even created a whole new program that allowed them to also acquire university degrees as well. Marcel had suggested naming it the Mikaelson academy, seeing as they helped found it, but the rest of them disagreed. This school wasn't about them, it was about their city and the kids that would inhabit it. Hence why Isa proposed the New Orleans Academy for the Gifted. Or NOA for short. And when it came time to appoint a headmaster, a unanimous vote had cast Rebekah for the position. There was no one with a better maternal instinct to instruct the future of their city. She even had her siblings come and help the witches with their magic, the werewolves with their shifting and temper and the vampires with their control and abilities.

Kol, however, had been banned from helping the vampires after he joked about his lack of control centuries ago and suggested the kids try it out and go on a massacre and several of them almost took it seriously.

He helped his wife, and two sisters with the witch classes though. It was quite the past time.

And they'd structured it so that the kids didn't have homework and only had to come to school three days a week, actually allowing them time to be kids and not consume themselves with studying for tests and what they were going to be. Both were important sure, but there was no need to pressure them all about it.

And they rarely received complaints, for the most part, the school was beloved by every faction in the city.

Except on this one matter.

"Bex, you've held a 20s dance every year since the school opened. Surely you could budge on the theme this once?" Isa questioned, her niece and nephew smart enough to be silent despite their excitement that she agreed with them.

"Absolutely not. The 20s was the best decade and these children need that kind of experience in this day and age where everything is about technology or sex."

Isa sighed again.

"Remus, what was the alternate theme you proposed for the dance?"

"We took a vote on what graduating students would like and a Halloween-themed party was the result as it is usually held a week shy of the holiday," he answered and Isa's expression brightened.

"Brilliant. Just let them have the dance and you can still force Marcel to dress up like he's in the 20s with you. They get Halloween, you get the 20s. Done, dusted and everyone is happy."

Rebekah was quiet as she contemplated it and Isa nudged her niece and nephew who snapped out of it as they began to grovel.

"Please, mom," Rey begged. "We'll even take care of everything."

"Yes, we will! And we'll even help petition the rest of the students to get on board with your Miss New Orleans pageant idea, you have our word," Diana added.

Rebekah's brows raised at the suggestion and their oath.

Ever since she'd seen the pictures her sister took at the Miss Mystic Falls pageant that she'd missed, she'd been dying to host one in New Orleans but very few in the supernatural community seemed interested in the idea.

The blonde Mikaelson mother simply pulled her two children in for a hug as she pressed kisses to their heads.

"Alright. If you all really want it, I will abstain from my 20s dance this year in favour of your Halloween theme."

"Thank you, mom!" Diana grinned.

"You're the best!" Rey exclaimed as they squeezed her into a hug again, Rebekah and Isa smiling at the scene.

"You're welcome, my darling children, but you will indeed be keeping your word and helping me put together a Miss New Orleans beauty pageant."

"Elijah taught them well, sister," Isa interjected. "They know the value of offering their word and what could happen should they break it, which they won't."

"Thank you for helping, Aunt Isa," Rey added as he and his sister moved to hug their aunt.

"You're welcome, sweethearts. Go on, now. I'm sure you're anxious to deliver the good news to your friends."

The two siblings nodded eagerly as they let go of their aunt before kissing their mother on the cheek on their way out, vamp speeding away.

"They grow up so fast, don't they?" Rebekah said nostalgically as she looked out the way they left and she felt her sister approach as she linked their arms together.

"They do. But they're Mikaelson's. They'll always come back."

Rebekah smiled at Isa.

"Always and forever."
