Alright, apparently I don't know how to write short chapters anymore 😅 Thank you for being patient between each post. If you're a new reader, I also have a completed, 40+ chapter ErwinxReader and two Jujutsu Kaisen fics. As always, I hope you enjoy this chapter.

The next morning, Y/N was late; to be fair, she was usually late. In fact, she had never actually been on time once the entire two weeks she had been working for Erwin. On more than one occasion, she barged in out of breath around 9:20 after running to his office. Most often, she was about five minutes late. On those days, she strolled in with a light knock on the door, casual as if she were on time.

Now, it was 9:47, and Levi had checked the clock six times since 9:30. Levi tossed his papers down in a huff and stared at the clock.

"Where the fuck is she?" He tapped his finger on his desk.

Any other day, he would've welcomed an empty office, but today was different. Either way, it seemed out of character for Y/N to be this late. His finger tapped faster as he considered all the reasons she might not have shown up.

I knew I was too forward yesterday. Who touches someone's leg like that? Levi groaned. I shouldn't care, right? Is it rude if I don't care? Do I care if it's rude?

"Ugh," Levi stood up just as the door to his office opened.

"Shorty, Y/N won't be making it today," Hange said as they strolled in.

"What?" Levi tried to act like he hadn't just been worrying about Y/N. He stretched briefly then sat back down.

"She's sick. Someone kept her out in the cold yesterday," Hange eyed Levi who ignored their comment.

"Is she okay?" The words hadn't left his mouth before he regretted them.

Hange stood in front of his desk with an eyebrow raised and a smirk on their lips.

"Are you worried about her?"

Levi took a deep breath and rolled his eyes. He gathered the papers he had tossed on his desk to avoid answering Hange.

"Did you come here just to tell me this?"

"Well, she was upset because you apparently finally agreed to read with her." Hange tried not to snicker when she noticed Levi's shaking leg. "She wanted me to explain why she didn't show up. It's a shame really."

Levi continued staring at the letter in his hand, but Hange noticed that his eyes weren't moving across the page. They hadn't known Levi for very long, and they had been friends for even less time. Yet it was easy for Hange to read his body language, and even easier to slightly manipulate him.

"Y/N is feeling pretty bad though. She practically dragged herself to my room early this morning wanting my help after she woke up sweating with a fever."

The guilt was starting to get to Levi, and Hange could see it.

"She fell asleep just a bit ago, but she should really have someone sit with her. I think I'm going to go to work for a few hours, then I'll have to take the rest of the day off to take care of her..."

Hange peaked at Levi and watched the wheels turn behind his steely eyes. Go on. Take the bait, Levi.

"You don't need to do that," Levi did his best to act indifferent. "I can check up on Y/N. I cleared my day to read with her anyways."

Now both of Hange's eyebrows were raised.

"Oh, did you?"

The sigh Levi let out was almost a growl. "Get to work, four eyes," he snipped.
