"The bravest thing you can do; is tell yourself the truth." - L.E. Bowman"I could give you a ride home?"
Jungkook shuffled awkwardly, trying not to let how happy he was show through on his face as he looked back at Taehyung. He wants to give me a ride home? Even though we both know I am perfectly capable of hiring a taxi?
"Really?" He asked, hoping his voice didn't sound too strained. "I'd like that. I mean, as long as it's not an inconvenience. . ."
Taehyung kicked at a piece of garbage on the ground, hands in his pockets. "No, not at all. I think I puked out all the soju, so I should be sober enough not to drive of us off the road."
Jungkook smiled, remembering handing Taehyung a hat he found behind the bar in the Lost & Found box.
"Right. Okay. . . thank you." He said, nodding. "Lead the way?"
Taehyung grinned. "Oh, right. I guess we can go to the car, probably." He said, laughing nervously. "I just parked around back. . ."
The two boys ran through the rain together, holding their hands above their heads to try and shelter them, which did nothing. The rain was beating down hard, so the two were soaked through their suits in seconds. Shivering, Taehyung unlocked his convertible, and the boys hopped inside the car, both rubbing their hands together for heat, teeth chattering.
"I'll get the heat going. . ." Taehyung said, blasting the AC, turning the heat all the way up. Taehyung defrosted the windows and tried to warm up, and Jungkook took that time to look around. The car was spotless, beautiful. It made sense that Taehyung would drive something as elegant and sexy as this. . . it just seemed to fit his strange, and yet, mysteriously interesting personality.
Jungkook stayed silent as Taehyung pulled onto the road, pressing play on some smooth jazz playlist using his bluetooth.
"Do you hate jazz? I can find something else if you want. . ." Taehyung trailed off, glancing nervously at Jungkook.
Jungkook waved him off. "I'm an R&B guy, but jazz and R&B go hand in hand, so don't worry about it; I like it." He gave what he hoped was a reassuring smile. He realised then, that Taehyung wasn't in a suit. He was in regular clothes. Casual clothes. Jungkook almost couldn't believe he was seeing the sharp CEO of Cora in nothing but a rock T-shirt, a grey sweater and some blue jeans. He almost looked sexier like this.
Control yourself, man. Get it together.
"We can be professional and be drinking buddies." Jungkook blurted out. He flushed at his own words. He was still fairly intoxicated, so nothing he thought was being filtered before he turned it into words.
Taehyung turned down Jungkook's street. Had Jungkook already told him where to go? He didn't remember giving directions.
"I suppose you're right. I guess being perfectly professional is a bit of a too aggressive idea. I was thinking about it myself, and I think it would be impossible." Taehyung said, parking beside the curb in front of Jungkook's building.
Jungkook felt his heart rate pick up. Taehyung had been thinking about him? And about what he'd said? Did this, plus the ride home, mean Taehyung didn't hate Jungkook after all?
"How did you know where I live?"
"Your mom used to live here. She and I were close."
"That's right."
An awkward silence fell between them, a slow tempo-ed jazz melody floating around them. Taehyung killed the engine, and neither of them said anything, both just staring out the windshield waiting for the other to speak, or to move.
