June, 2014"I can go anywhere, just not home. . ." ~ My Tears Ricochet, Taylor Swift
*TRIGGER WARNING: Scenes of blood and death*
"Kim Yun-Jae?" The woman asked, and Taehyung looked up to see an attractive, well dressed middle aged lady, probably around the same age as his parents. He blinked at her, two tears plopping from his eyes. Who was this woman? And why was she calling him his dad's name?
The woman shook her head. "Oh- I'm sorry, that's silly of me. . ." She stared at Taehyung, somewhat in amazement.
"You must be. . . are you, by any chance, Kim Taehyung?" She asked, her uniform cut bob getting slightly ruffled by the sudden breeze that rolled through.
Taehyung looked up at her in surprise. Did he know her? He stared at her face. She was pretty, with round, chocolate coloured eyes and fair skin, a little freckle under her right eye. There was something familiar about her, but he just couldn't place where he knew her from. Maybe if she was a bit younger, and her hair was longer. . . Oh! I have seen her before!
"Do you know my father?" He asked, and she smiled brightly.
"So you are Taehyung. My, you have really grown." She said, staring at him with a fond look on her face. "You are practically your fathers twin. Of course, so handsome." She laughed, and then as if remembering the situation, she sobered up from her laughter and knelt down to be eye level with Taehyung.
"What's going on? Are you hurt?" She asked, placing her hands on his shoulders, looking him up and down. He laughed a little, sniffling.
"Emotionally, yes. Otherwise I'm fine." He said lamely, trying to wipe his eyes. Taehyung cried a lot, but he felt like he cried more in the past 24 hours alone than he had in his whole life.
The lady smiled a little, shaking her head. "You and Jungkook have always been so alike." She said fondly.
Taehyung blinked at her. That name sounded familiar, but he couldn't place it. Jungkook?
"Sorry, who are you?" He asked, wiping his face again.
The lady sighed. "I'm sorry, I should have introduced myself. My name is Jeon Ha-ri."
I have definitely seen her before.
Taehyung nodded. "You used to be friends with my dad... right?" He asked, and Ha-ri nodded, a faint smile on her lips.
"Yes, we were childhood friends. Your parents even helped raise my son when you were very little and I was going through a tough time." She had such a kind, pretty smile. "I moved back to Busan when my son was five, though. I haven't seen you or your father since. Do you remember my son? You two were best friends once."
Taehyung thought about it. He was really young at the time, so all his memories were fuzzy, but one memory did stand out.
"Does he have fluffy hair and a mole?" He asked, chewing on his lip. He recalled one summer, spinning under the sprinkler with a boy who looked like that; the boys happy laughter swirling around them. The memory made him smile.
Ha-ri nodded. "That sounds like him." She nodded. "It's ok if you don't remember us, you were really little at the time." She said, giving him a clap on the back. "Now, why don't you tell me what's wrong?"
Taehyung exhaled sharply. He couldn't tell her. He didn't even know this lady, who knew how she'd react. Before he could say anything else, Ha-ri shook her head and reached for his hand.
"Never mind. How about you come help a lady with her groceries?" She asked, and he laughed.
"Okay.""My mother still lives here in Daegu, and since my son is back from LA for a couple weeks, I thought now would be a good time to come visit her." Ha-ri explained as she and Taehyung brought groceries bags from the trunk of her BMW to the front step of her mother's house.
"My son brought his friend along, I think they're getting coffee again right now." She said, as if she could tell just how curious Taehyung was about her son. Was he really my best friend once? Why does no one talk about him or Mrs.Jeon?
"Aren't you going to visit my parents? If you're friends with them?" He asked, grabbing the last bag and putting on the front step.
Mrs.Jeon shook her head sadly. "Unfortunately, your mother and I don't get along too well. She's asked we stay away from you."
Typical.
"Well that won't be a problem any more." Taehyung hugged, seething at the thought of his mother... the thought of Kwan.
"How come?" She asked, her voice soft.
"I'm moving to Seoul. Me and my umma had an argument and I lost my job over it."
"Do you have a place to stay?" She asked, worried. "Because you can always stay with us."
Taehyung shook his head. "I have a place. Finding a job won't be as easy though."
Mrs.Jeon raised an eyebrow. "Well... I am the chairwoman of my own company, and we're looking for paid interns. Would you be interested?"
Chairwoman- her own company? Would I be interested??
"That sounds amazing." He said. "You could get me an interview?"
She laughed. "I can get you the job. I've just decided- you're hired. Can you start next week?"
"I can start tomorrow!"
Ha-ri laughed. "So much like my Jungkook."
