~ The day before the flight. . . ~

Jungkook tightened his grip on the steering wheel, making a sharp turn into the hospital parking lot and finding the nearest spot to the door; killing the engine. He sat there for a minute and let out a long sigh. It was his day off, one of the only ones in the past two weeks, so he was free to not have to wear any of those ridiculous suits he's required to wear everyday for work. Instead, he was clad in some grey sweatpants from his military days and a navy blue Korea School Of Arts hoodie he'd bought the same day he had gotten his acceptance letter. He hadn't even bothered to brush his hair when he got up this morning, leaving it a fluffy, wavy mess. He unclicked his seatbelt and shot a quick text to Jimin.

Jungkook: Hey, I'm here

Jimin: Oh, hey baby girl

Jimin: Did you bring the stuff?

Jungkook: Yes, I have your iced americanos, asshole

Jimin: U brought a decaf
for Yoongi? 👉👈

Jungkook: Yeah, yeah

Jimin: Love u

Jungkook rolled his eyes and grabbed the Starbucks drink tray from the centre console, hopping out of the car and slamming the door closed behind him. It was just after 12pm, but it still felt like early morning, the sun shining brightly and the cold breeze swirling the stray cherry blossom petals through the air. Jimin had called Jungkook at 7am this morning, nearly in tears because he thought Jungkook was purposefully ignoring him. Truthfully, Jungkook had been avoiding Jimin ever since the night they went drinking with Taehyung and Yoongi, but it was only because he didn't want his best friend to know what an idiot he had been.  To make it up to him, Jungkook agreed to spend his day off hanging out in the nurse wing with Jimin and the gang, and of course bring coffee. Jimin was pleased, eager to talk about all that had happened in the last nearly three weeks. Jungkook, although dreading having to own up to the truth, missed his best friend more than anything, and was excited to see him again too.

The first person to greet him at the front desk was Kim Seokjin, or Jin, who nearly dropped all the paperwork he was sorting when he saw Jungkook.

"My son!" He cried, stepping around the desk and rushing over to Jungkook to give him a tight hug, his bony collar bones stabbing Jungkook in the face. When Jungkook's mom was sick, it was Jin, Jimin and Namjoon who were the nurses to care for her everyday, so Jungkook spent nearly a year here getting to know them. After she passed, Jin promised from there on out that he would be Jungkook's new mother; and Jungkook just accepted it.

"I missed you! It's been weeks since you stopped by, are you okay? Do I need to get Namjoon to squeeze in some therapy time with you, too?" Jin asked, taking the drink tray from Jungkook's hand and setting it down on the desk. "What a good little boy, bringing his family coffee..." Jin hummed happily to himself, grabbing one of the americanos and taking a long sip.

Jungkook sighed. "I don't need therapy, Jin hyung. I have been swamped with work, so I haven't even been able to come and see Jimin for Uno." Uno was a very important part of Jungkook and Jimin's weekly activities. Once or twice a week, after work, they'd order food and alcohol to Jungkook's flat and play Uno with some of their friends from the military. Jungkook and Jimin normally were a team, otherwise things could get violent very quickly.

Jin whistled. "Damn, no Uno? You must have been really busy." He agreed. "But thank you for being a good dongsaeng."

"Jin, if you want, I have some time right now, we could go get lunch at that little place we found in Itaewon that one time-" Namjoon started as he walked into the front office, but stopped as soon as he saw Jungkook, and plastered a bright smile on his face.
