Past

The waves crashed onto the shore, Adam and I were sitting on the sand dunes, you could see the whole town from up here. It is a magnificent sight. I look at my best friend, he is cradling a silver dolphin necklace, we got it from the markets, Adam spent all his pennies on it. I asked him why he wanted to spend so much money on it, he told he it was for a special someone.

He lifted it up, by the chain, the dolphin dangled on the end. He squinted his eyes, I moved over to see what he was looking at.

Taylor: What you looking at?

Adam: The sunset, come here, squint your eyes,

I did so,

Adam: It looks like the dolphin is swimming on the sunset, hey.

Taylor: Yeah.

I moved back to my place, remembering that Tomorrow I would be on a plane, to the other side of the world, and I would possibly not see Adam ever again, that terrified me to my bones.

Adam: What's the sunset like in America? any good as the ones here?

he said, still in fascination of the dolphin, he is still admiring the view.

Taylor: I don't know, but my dad said there are beautiful beaches there as well.

I'm really going to miss Adam, I'm going to miss how he would come over in the morning and knock on our door, asking if he could have breakfast with us, because his parents worked early and never had time to make him breakfast. My parents always accepted Adam, he is like my brother, my parents take him in whenever he needs us. He eats meals with us, in fact 90% of he time he is at my house, or at the beach, this is our favourite spot.

Last summer My dad booked us a ticket to Hawaii, I asked Adam if he could come. He said he would love to, he was all on board before his parents said he couldn't go, I was devastated because I really wanted him to go with us, I insisted that he go but my dad explained to me that it wasn't so easy, I didn't want to go after that, I told my parents they could go on their own, because I didn't want to ruin their holiday, I stayed with Adam at his house, his parents didn't mind, we had the house to ourselves most of the time, and we just played hide and seek, or went to the beach.

Adam: You know if it was that easy I would come with you..

I jumped at his words that is perfect

Taylor: Why don't you?

Adam: I wish it was that simple Taylor, but it's not. You're moving to America, and I'm staying here. At least one of us gets the dream we imagined.

A couple years ago, we said that when we were older that we'd move to America, and get jobs there, we've been sworn ever since. The day I told Adam I was moving was the day his world started seeming so unhappy.
