Once we were inside the safety of the cafe I attempted to let go of Adam's hand, I felt him hold on to my to mine when I tried to let go. I looked up at him he looked so frazzled by this place. I left my hand in his, it didn't seem to bother him and certainly didn't bother me. I felt the first piece of him coming back to me when we laced our fingers together and I'm not about to let it go. I took a step forward but his feet remained planted on the floor. I went up on my tip-toes and whispered in his ear; "Don't worry, I've got you." I gave him a smile and with that he stepped forward we walked in unison to the counter, I got stares and looks from people, some gasps, all of the normal.

Taylor: Hi, Savannah!

I said to the sales-lady at the counter. She was in here every weekday, in the morning and in the afternoon on Saturday. I have grown a comfortableness with Savannah, she's a sweet girl about 21-22 working part time to earn money while she's at college. She doesn't really see Adam much but on some occasions he has come in here with me. She knows we're together but she's never confronted, me which is very kind of her.

Savannah: Hey Taylor, haven't seen you in a while, Hey Calvin!

I look at Adam he gave her a friendly wave and continued to grip my hand. He's uncomfortable and I put him in this situation. I feel guilty.

Taylor: Yeah, been super busy. But I should be back in the coffee loop from now on.

I laughed to which she giggled and asked; Just the usual for you two then?

Taylor: That would be great, thank you Savannah.

She smiled and made the orders. I payed for them and walked away from the counter and over to a booth that is hidden away at the back of the cafe. I sat on the end closest to the window while Adam sat next to me. There wasn't any space in between us, our shoulders were touching and Adam was still gripping my hand as tight as ever underneath the table.

"You know when I said don't let go of my hand? I didn't mean forever."

I laughed and offered him a smile which he returned.

Adam: You didn't let go either, so if you don't mind, I will hold your hand more often...it feels right.

It feels right? How can it possibly feel right to hold the hand of a person you barely know? It's a different case for me but for him...I don't know how he's so comfortable with holding my hand considering he's only 'known' me for three weeks.

Taylor: Please do.

Was what I said to his green eyes then Savannah came to deliver our drinks in take away cups as when I usually order coffee here I normally have it on the way back to my apartment but today I have some things planned so we won't be going home just yet.

We thanked Savannah and made our way out of the cafe. I have been hanging out at the dog shelter since I found out about Adam's Amnesia. I wanted to find something that didn't remind me of him because everywhere I went there were traces of him. I want Adam to meet this one particular dog whom is my favourite. When I first came there Lucy, the carer, had introduced me to all the dogs but one caught my eye. She was a little Yorkshire Terrier, beautiful coat, but she had been born they found her abandoned on the side of the street. She was so weak so couldn't even stand up on her own.

So I brought some stuff at the store and visited her everyday. She's doing much better now, and the shelter even let me name her....I named her Miracle because she was my miracle and I was hers.

Taylor: I want to show you something.

"okay."

He replied hesitantly. I can see why he seems on edge. But he said he trusted me which I was so surprised to hear. I continued to lead Adam down the street to the shelter. When we got there confusion ran over his face but I just pulled him inside.

Hold on, don't you let go. (Tayvin/Talvin)Where stories live. Discover now
