After Goodbye

Chapter 7

It was past midnight and Irys had been calling Bae for hours yet no one was picking up. Where in this world could her wife be? Her sister's house or someone else's bed? It was driving Irys mad. Bae said that she needed a breather but it was already past midnight.

After weeks of fighting, she was getting paranoid. She loves Bae and she would never forgive herself if something happens to her wife. 

30 missed calls. 50 unread messages. No replies, no nothing. Just why won't she pick up? Rage started to rise inside her. They could have fixed their problems if Bae would just give her a chance to talk but here they are now, one spamming the other with calls and the other is in god knows where.

Irys pressed the call button again

And again...

And again...

She snapped.

"GODDAMNIT BAELZ PICK-"

"-Upppppppp" Irys sighs. She's been trying to contact Bae for a few minutes now yet Bae is still not answering. She felt a wave of deja vu hit her as she pressed the call button again.

Irys held back the urge to throw her phone, "Alright, fine. Maybe you're just busy or something, right? But hey, you have a job and you should still answer my calls!" She says

A few more moments later, Irys finally gave up. There was no point in calling someone who has no intention of answering you. The only thing she could do now is to wait for Bae to arrive at the office.

While waiting, Irys heard a knock on her door. "Hey Irys, it's Mumei. Someone's here to see you" says the voice on the other side.

"Okay, come in"

Mumei opened the door and a tall guy with heterochromatic eyes as Irys entered the room. Irys tilted her head in confusion. 'Who is this guy?' she thought to herself

"Uh hi!" The guy waved at her awkwardly. "Are you Irys?"

She nodded in response. "Yeah, what's up?" She says as she motioned the guy to sit and he obeyed her.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Roberu." He offered her hand for a handshake which Irys accepted. Then he continued, "I'm here to talk about Hakos-cha-"

Before he could finish his sentences, Irys shot him a glare. A scary one, he gulps. "Anyway, you've been spam calling her and I kinda remember where she works-" 

Irys cuts him off again. "How did you know I was spam calling her?"

"Because I have her phone?"

"Why do you have it? Why didn't you answer?"

"Wait, hold on. Let me finish talking"

Irys paused. She hadn't realized that she's not letting the guy talk. Maybe she was just surprised that Bae's phone is in someone's else's hand, how did that even happen?

Or is this guy Bae's new boyfriend that Irys is not aware of and he's here to tell her to fuck off and keep her distance from Bae? 

But, it doesn't really matter anymore why he's here because the moment he mentioned Bae, all that Irys could feel was anger.

Irys took a deep breath and regained her composure, "I'm sorry. As someone who works with Bae, it took me by surprise that her phone is in your hands but please do explain whatever the hell is going on." She calmly says.

Roberu then nodded. "My family owns a bar not far from here and Hakos-chan is a regular customer. She went to the Bar last night, got drunk and vented her problems. After that, she went home but she forgot her phone. I remember her saying something about Holo studio but she was slurring her words and I couldn't really understand her so I assumed that she works here and uhh you were spam calling so I also assumed that you are her boss"

Irys blinked. So Bae wasn't sleeping with this guy. She lets out a sigh of relief which confuses Roberu. Jumping into conclusions is really going to betray other people's relationship with one another, just like what happened in the past.

"I am a partner for a project" Irys replied

Roberu's eyes widened "HAH?" 

He then immediately covered his mouth. "I'm sorry I just remembered something she and I talked about last night" he gave her an awkward apologetic smile as Irys stared at him still confused.

"Anyway, I was only here to return the phone. I better go excuse myself now and uh please tell her not to forget her phone next time."

Irys only nodded and watched as Roberu walked to the door. As he's about to reach the doorknob, the door swung open, hitting his face. He fell to the floor and Irys was in shock, it was quite an impact. Before both Roberu and Irys could react, A red haired girl was outside the door with teary eyes.

"Irys, don't get mad… I lost my phone and you've probably been calling me for a long time. I don't know where in this world I put it but I couldn't find it at homeee." She whined.

The silver haired girl beside her snickered, "She was holding her tears back in the elevator."

Irys didn't know whether to panic about Bae hitting Roberu's face or Bae crying. She then immediately went to Roberu because that impact might've hurt so bad since he literally fell.

"Oh god, Bae, did you kill someone?" Said Reine

"Roberu senpai???"
