We got home and a few minutes later, my mom pulled into the driveway.

I had decided on making tacos, but only after Isaac claimed he had never even tried a taco before.

"Hey mom," I greeted as she opened the door.

"Hey, honey. I see you brought a friend home. I guess school must have been good," She said.

Isaac and I shared a glance.

"Can Isaac sleepover?" I asked my mom.

"Sure, just make sure you give him plenty of blankets. The house is cold at night," My mom said as she dazedly walked upstairs to change out of her work clothes

"Your mom is so awesome," Isaac said happily.

"Yeah well if she found out why you're sleeping over then she would want to adopt you and probably cook you a whole bunch of food," I said as I fried the chicken.

"You can shower here if you need to," I said as my body just naturally moved as I cooked the food. It was like a reflex by now. I was so used to cooking that I'm pretty sure I could make an entire banquet dinner in under twenty minutes.

"Smells good," My mom said as she came downstairs a few minutes later. Her hair was wet from a shower and she was in really fluffy pajamas. "So Isaac, how was your first day of school?" My mom asked him as she sat down by the table.

"It was pretty good. Lunch is, of course, my favorite subject," Isaac said as he took a seat by my mom.

I pulled out some plates and taco shells on the table and also balanced the hot pan with the taco meat in my other hand. I got some other stuff out and then finally sat down next to Isaac.

Dinner was done in under ten minutes thanks to my awesome skills.

Isaac probably devoured three or four tacos. I smiled as he chatted with my mother and kept on complimenting and thanking me for the food.

After cleaning up, I dug out some blankets that were still packed in the boxes in the hallway.

Isaac said he was fine sleeping on the floor but my mother insisted he take the couch downstairs.

Of course, Isaac nearly cried and said he wanted my mom to adopt him.

I smiled and went upstairs to my room.

It was hella late but that didn't stop me from finishing decorating my room.

My mother and Isaac were probably asleep.

I dug out my TV and some other junk. I found my jewelry and also my signed Green Day T-shirt.

My dad got that shirt for me a few years ago. I guess it was supposed to be some sort of bonding moment.

But I was twelve and didn't know who Green Day was.

I hung it on the wall anyway. I made sure everything was in place.

Tomorrow, I know that everything would change. Everyone would know who I was. And people would know who my father was.

The news would spread and sooner or later, we'd have to move again.

I didn't want to think about it. I went to the bathroom instead. I forced myself to brush my teeth.

I needed to sleep so tomorrow I had enough energy to effectively yell at people if I had to.

I crawled into bed a few minutes later and closed my eyes.
