CHAPTER TWO
Kaito was the one who pulled away from the kiss. Kiyoshi was breathing heavily, still is shock from what had just happened. "What the flip was that?!" he exclaimed.
Kaito rolled over to lay right next to Kiyoshi. "Sorry. That was probably really sudden."
"YOU THINK?! What was that?" Kiyoshi asked, a bit too loud. He really didn't want to be mean, but his friend had no right to tease him like that. Kaito had always been popular. All the girls in school loved him. There was no way what he did to Kiyoshi was actually serious.
"That, my sweet, was a kiss. You've been kissed before," Kaito said. Kiyoshi frowned. "Actually no. I lied about that. I was just upset that you had your first kiss before I did."
Kaito rolled to face Kiyoshi. "Getting jealous already, are we?" he joked. "No!" Kiyoshi yelled, blushing. "Anyways, you still owe me an explanation!"
Kaito stood up. He began to slowly walk around the room, then he said, "How does one explain their love for another? I guess I can't answer your question, Kiyo. I don't why I chose to do it then or like that, but I did. Maybe I should have told you how I felt before scaring you like that. I know you would've liked that better. But I think I was too scared to do anything. Until now."
Kiyoshi stared at Kaito. For once he wasn't the one scared, it was Kaito. The same Kaito he'd seen do everything he wouldn't. Because he was scared. He wasn't scared now though, only shocked.
Kaito stopped walking about and looked at his friend. "Are you mad at me? Do you want me to leave? I will if that's what you need."
Kiyoshi shook his head. He needed Kaito to stay. It was time he say something he'd been meaning to say before, but was too scared too.
He stood up and placed his hands on Kaito's shoulders. He looked straight into Kaito's hypnotizing brown eyes, but didn't let himself back down.
"I'm not shocked because you love me. I'm shocked because I thought you'd never love me back. Not the way I do," Kiyoshi said.
"You love me?"
Kiyoshi nodded. "Of course I do. You've been my best friend since forever. But you're more than just my best friend. You've always been there for me. Other than my parents, it's always been you."
Kaito smiled. "Glad to know you love your parents." They both laughed at Kaito's joke, and for the first time ever they could just be themselves. There were no more secret feelings keeping them from truly being who they are.
"I love you, Kiyo. I always have."
Kiyoshi smiled. "I know. It's just nice to have some reassurance," he joked.
He felt sort of free now that his feeling were out. He no longer had to fear what might happened to Kaito if he ended up with someone else. Because Kaito loved Kiyoshi, and Kiyoshi loved him back.
Kiyoshi no longer had to be afraid of what he did just then. He grabbed Kaito by the neck and pulled him closer. Kiyoshi heard Kaito gasp just before their lips touched. And when they did, everything changed.
The kiss felt like it had lasted a lifetime. Kaito had slowly wrapped his arms around Kiyoshi and pulled their bodies in tighter. The two fit together perfectly, just as if they were meant for each other. Nothing could have ever made that moment better, except maybe if Kaito didn't taste like the garlic pizza he ate for lunch. Kiyoshi quickly got past that, though, and he slipped his tongue deeper into Kaito's mouth.
It was Kaito who ended the kiss. "I'm gonna have to get used to being like this around you!"
Kiyoshi giggled. He couldn't have been happier. "So does this mean we're dating?" he asked. "Not necessarily," Kaito answered. "We haven't gone on a date yet."
This hit Kiyoshi like a bullet. If Kaito were to be his boyfriend, of course they would need to go on a date. But what if it wasn't perfect? What if it wasn't like Kiyoshi had always dreamed of? And what if people made fun of them for being gay?
"I wanna date you," Kiyoshi finally said. "I'll go wherever you want to. Or whenever you want! I trust you to make it perfect."
Kaito smiled. Kiyoshi smiled back, but he secretly still worried about how other people would react to their homosexual relationship. What would his parents say?
Kiyoshi pushed the thought aside. He could deal with all his insecurities later, when he has more insecurities to worry about. But right now all he wanted was a date with Kaito.
"Friday," Kaito said. "I'll pick you up at 7. The rest will be a surprise. Just be prepared to workout your lips."
Kiyoshi laughed again. Now all he had to wait for was Friday.
