CHAPTER NINE
"Pleeeeeeaaaaaassssssse!" Lila pleaded. "For the sixth time, no," her brother told her. "But that's not fair!" she complained. "You're letting her help you." She pointed at Sophie, who was only a few feet away. "If she can help you get ready for a date, surely your little sister can," Lila said, shooting Kaito one of her signature cute looks. She might have been fourteen, only a few years younger than himself, but man did that face work. "Ok, you can help," Kaito gave in. "YES-- I mean... thank you," Lila said, trying not to burst with excitement.
"So, is this a casual type date? Or more fancy?" Sophie asked. "Or is it more sexy?" Lila added, winking at her brother. "That's creepy," Kaito said. "But I had just planned for us to have dinner and go to this one night club together."
"Whoa! As a good little sister, I will not allow my brother go to a night club!" Lila hissed. "Come on, it's not like I'm gonna get wasted," Kaito defended.
"SHUSH!" Sophie yelled, placing her hands on the mouths of the other two. "Less arguing, more prepping," she said. She took her hand off the others' mouths. "I think this calls for sexy clothes," she said, making her way to Kaito's closet. "I'm always right," Lila commented, as she followed Sophie into the closet.
It wasn't much. The only clothes Kaito had were jeans, t-shirts, and hoodies. "How do you live?" Sophie asked. "You'd think you've never gone on a date before," she added. Kaito made a strange face at her. "That's because I haven't gone on a date before," he said. "Ya, my brother's too cool for any girl who's asked him before. They were all... girls," Lila commented. Sophie was very annoyed, considering she was one of the girls Lila was referring to.
Sophie pulled a pair of black skinny jeans from a rack. "How 'bout these?" she asked. Kaito gaped at her. "Skinny jeans. You want me to wear skinny jeans. The only reason I have those is because Lila bought them for me," he said. Lila smiled guiltily. "I was really hoping you were gay!" she chuckled.
Sophie ignored them and continued looking for clothes. She couldn't believe this was all Kaito had. You'd think the most popular guy in school would have more than this. How stereotypical. Kaito seemed to lack anything that would be sufficient to wear on his date. That was until found sleek black leather jacket.
"Spicy, I like it!" Lila commented on Sophie's choice. "Spicy?" Kaito questioned. Sophie just threw the jacket at him. "You're wearing it. And the jeans."
Kaito eyed the jacket and pants. They didn't seem that great, but Sophie and Lila sure liked them. Maybe Kiyoshi will too. Kaito really hoped he did.
"Shoo! Get out!" Kaito said, pushing the girls out the door. He locked it, then began to change. He stripped to just his briefs before putting on the jeans. They were tight fitting, but extremely sexy.
Kaito eyed himself in the mirror. They work, he thought to himself. He looked good in the pants. Hopefully Kiyoshi would agree.
Kaito put on a tight-fit dark blue shirt on, with the leather jacket overtop of it. Again he looked in the mirror. The look suited him, but he really didn't care, Kiyoshi just had to like it.
He put on a pair of black sneakers before leaving the closet. The girls outside gasped at how good he looked. "You are a sexy beast," Sophie noted. "Umm... Thanks?" Kaito was unsure how to reply. "Kiyo's gonna love you!" Lila said in a singsong voice. "Hooray for yaoi!"
Sophie glared at her. "You actually know what that is?" she asked. "Yup!" Lila replied. "It's so adorable!"
Kaito ignored that and tried changing the subject. "I should probably be leaving soon," he said. Sophie squealed. "Text me everything! Use extreme detail please!"
Kaito waved goodbye to the girls. Lila said she would make an excuse for his absence so their parents weren't worried. Kaito thanked her, then headed out to his car. He climbed in and started off to Kiyoshi's house.
Lights were still on in the Casper home when Kaito arrived. Kiyoshi had to be home; where else would he be?
Kaito knocked on the front door. It was Yuri who answered the door. "Kiyoshi didn't think you were still coming," she said. "Honestly, I didn't know if I was either. But do you think I could talk to him?" Kaito asked. Yuri smiled softly. "Of course you can. Just know that you are always welcome here, even if stuff happens between you and Kiyoshi."
Kaito entered the house and took off his coat. He had to wear one, since its still winter and still very cold. The warmth of the home was nice though. It was freezing it outside, even for a February.
Kaito walked to Kiyoshi's bedroom. The door was shut and locked. Kaito knocked on it. "Can I come in?" he asked. After a slight pause Kiyoshi answered, "No." Kaito frowned. "Honey, please let me in. I f*cking hate it without you."
It took awhile, but Kiyoshi finally opened his door. His eyes were red and his face was stained with tears. Kaito hated seeing him this way. "Damn, what happened?"
Kiyoshi didn't answer right away. He first motioned for Kaito to come in. He did. Kiyoshi then shut the door and locked it. He went back to his bed and sat down. "Explain yourself," he said.
"Me?" Kaito asked. "And what about you? I understand you're mad about the rumors, but why are you mad at me? I only want to help you. And you know I can't stand seeing you this sad. Please tell me what's troubling you. I'll do anything to fix it. If there's anything you don't like about me, I'll change. I just want you to be happy."
Kiyoshi didn't look up. He stared down at the floor, looking heartbroken. "Don't you see?" he asked. "Those rumors had to have started somewhere. And there was only one person I trusted with that secret. It was you."
Kaito opened his mouth, but he couldn't speak. He knew he hadn't started the rumor, but Kiyoshi was still right. He was the only one who knew. He was the only one who could've possibly told Kiyoshi's secret.
"It wasn't me, Kiyo, I swear. I'll do anything to prove it to you," he said. Kiyoshi looked up at him quizzically. "Anything?"
Kaito wasn't about to back away from this challenge. He was going to show Kiyoshi just how serious he was.
Kaito pushed Kiyoshi back so he was laying down on the bed. Without warning, Kaito pressed his lips on down on Kiyoshi's. Hard. They've kissed passionately before, but this was full out. Lips, teeth, tongue, and all. Nothing could break them apart, until one of them pulled away.
Kaito was the one who did. "Was I convincing?" he asked. Kiyoshi smiled. "Oh, most definitely," he giggled. He cheeks flushed a bright red that Kaito enjoyed. He loved it when Kiyoshi blushed.
"Ready for our date?" Kaito asked. Kiyoshi examined himself. He was still wearing the same clothes he had been at school. His scarf was tattered and covered in snot from his many sneezes. "I should probably change," he said. "Oh, I'd enjoy that," Kaito said, almost too happily. Kiyoshi glared at him. "I don't mind you watching, but can't you at least make it not sound creepy?" he asked. "Oh. Sorry," Kaito apologized, though he couldn't hide his smile.
Kiyoshi changed into dark blue jeans and a brown hoodie. He decided ditching his scarf would be best. "Is this outfit okay?" he asked his date. "Perfect," Kaito replied.
Kiyoshi and Kaito left on their date then. Kaito had promised Kiyoshi's parents that they'd be back before midnight. "Have fun!" Yuri called out to them as the boys left. To their surprise Kiyoshi's father, James, had even come to send them off on their date.
Kiyoshi got into to the car. "Where do we go now?" he asked his boyfriend. Kaito just smiled before they drove away.
