Reki had never ventured outside of Okinawa. It was all he'd ever known, and while he loved his hometown, there was always a part of him that longed to see the world beyond its borders. Langa, on the other hand, had lived in Canada before moving to Okinawa. He always spoke so fondly of his home country, of the snow and the vast landscapes, the lively cities, and the little things that made it so special to him. And every time he shared a story, a memory, or a dream about Canada, Reki's heart swelled with a yearning to experience it for himself.

One night, after weeks of excited discussions, Langa had made a promise. "We'll go to Canada for our two-year anniversary, I swear." The idea seemed so surreal at the time, but now, two years later, that promise was about to come true.

The day arrived, and the excitement in the air was palpable. Langa was double-checking Reki's bag, making sure he'd packed long-sleeve clothes and all the essentials. "Agh, I can't believe this is actually happening!" Reki practically bounced off the walls with excitement. He flung himself onto Langa's back, wrapping his arms around his neck. "I'm so ready for this!"

Langa chuckled, feeling a warmth spread in his chest as he turned his head to press a quick kiss on Reki's cheek. "You're so cute when you're this excited," he teased, ruffling the redhead's hair. Reki blushed furiously, his face turning a deep shade of pink. He always got so flustered when Langa said things like that. It was endearing.

"Come on, we need to get going. Our flight's in two hours," Langa said, grabbing his suitcase and heading out the door. He glanced back at Reki, who was still grinning like an excited child, and smiled. It was moments like this that made Langa realize just how much he loved this boy.

As they packed up the last of their things, Reki's heart felt full, knowing that Langa had been planning this for months. Masae and Nanako were chatting about everything under the sun—life, their relationship, and of course, the trip. "Hey, Mom, we're ready to go!" Langa called out as he stepped into the living room, holding Reki's hand. Nanako turned, smiling warmly.

"Alright, have fun you two. Stay safe," she said with a wave. Reki rushed back in for a quick hug, throwing his arms around Masae in a tight embrace. "I'm sorry, I forgot to say bye!" he exclaimed, his voice full of sincerity.

Masae chuckled, brushing a stray strand of hair from Reki's face. "You're such a kid, but it's sweet. Have a great time, be safe, and I love you." She smiled as he ran out the door, calling back, "Love ya!"

And just like that, they were off—on a plane to Canada. Reki had never flown before, and the excitement radiated from him like a beam of sunlight. He was jittery, his eyes wide as he stared out the window at the clouds below. "Langa, look!" he whispered, barely containing his joy.

Langa, watching the expression of wonder on Reki's face, couldn't help but think about how lucky he was to have this person by his side. "I love you so much, Reki," Langa murmured softly, resting his head on Reki's shoulder and intertwining their fingers once again. Reki smiled, pulling their hands up to kiss Langa's knuckles. "I love you too," he whispered back, his heart full.

They talked and laughed the entire flight, their voices drowned out by the hum of the plane's engine. And by the time they landed, they were both giddy with anticipation.

The hotel was everything Reki could have hoped for—luxurious, yet comfortable. "Wow, this place is amazing!" Reki's eyes shone with excitement as he looked around. Langa smiled, feeling a familiar warmth in his chest. "Yeah, it's my go-to when I'm here," he explained, proud to share this part of his life with Reki.

After unpacking, Langa offered a suggestion. "Would you like to go for a walk? There's a restaurant down the road we could eat at, or we could just stay in and watch a movie. Whatever you prefer."

Reki grinned, his gaze falling on the cozy bed. "Can we cuddle for five more minutes first?" he asked with his signature, cheesy grin. "Then I'm totally down to go."

Langa laughed, knowing he'd never say no to cuddling. "Of course, I can never say no to that." They snuggled together on the bed, Reki curled against Langa's chest. After five minutes of peaceful silence, Langa nudged him gently. "Alright, love, let's go. But bring a jacket—it gets cold here at night."

Reki nodded, pulling out his favorite yellow hoodie before they left the room. Langa stretched his arm out, offering his hand, and Reki immediately latched onto it, their fingers intertwining as they walked in sync down the road.

"It's so beautiful here," Reki remarked, his eyes taking in the sights—the wide streets, the towering buildings, the streetlights casting a soft glow.

Before long, the chilly air set in, just as Langa had predicted. "Langa, what's that?" Reki pointed ahead, noticing a large black gate surrounded by a patch of land.

Langa smiled softly, the corners of his mouth turning upward. "Want to go check it out?" he asked.

Reki nodded eagerly, his curiosity piqued. As they approached the gate, Langa's demeanor shifted slightly. "Is this where—" Reki started to ask but was cut off as Langa gently pulled him further in.

After walking a little further, they came upon a small path that led to a peaceful, quiet area. They stopped in front of a gravestone, and Reki's eyes widened in realization. "Is this... where your dad is?" he asked softly.

Langa nodded, his expression suddenly distant. "Yeah," he murmured, his voice shaking slightly. "It's been a few years." His hands gripped tightly around Reki's, and the tears that had been forming in his eyes began to spill over.

Reki, heart aching at the sight of his usually strong and confident boyfriend so vulnerable, reached up and gently wiped away the tears that had fallen. "Hey," he whispered, his voice steady, "you're allowed to feel everything right now. You don't have to be strong all the time."

Langa took a deep breath, looking down at the grave. "Mom and I have been good. I've made friends... and I've even found someone who makes me happy," Langa's voice cracked. "I just wish you were here to meet him."

Reki squeezed Langa's hand, a tear of his own slipping down his cheek. "Hi, Oliver," he said softly, turning his attention to the grave. "I'm Reki, Langa's boyfriend. Don't worry, I'll take care of him. I'll keep him safe and happy."

Langa pulled Reki close, resting his forehead against his. "Thank you for doing this," Langa whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

After a few moments, they slowly stood and made their way back. The walk was quiet, but Reki kept speaking softly, offering little affirmations to remind Langa that he wasn't alone. "I'm so proud of you," Reki said, brushing his hand against Langa's. "You did so well."

When they reached the restaurant, the atmosphere was lively, with music playing and people laughing. "This place is amazing," Reki said, clearly impressed.

Langa smiled, feeling a sense of warmth in his chest. "This is one of my favorite spots. My family used to come here a lot."

Reki was over the moon about the food, trying new dishes with excitement. "What's this?" he asked, pointing at a side dish on the menu.

Langa grinned. "That's called poutine. It's really good. Want to try it?"

Reki's face lit up. "Yes, please!"

The night was filled with laughter, food, and joy as they talked about everything and nothing. Later, they walked back to the hotel, showered, and slipped into their pajamas. Reki snuggled closer to Langa, his heart overflowing with happiness.

"Today was perfect," Reki said, his voice muffled by Langa's shirt. "I'm so happy, Langa. I love you."

Langa's fingers ran through Reki's hair as he smiled, his heart full. "I love you too, more than you'll ever know."

As Reki yawned, Langa chuckled. "Someone's tired."

Reki buried his face into Langa's chest, trying to hide the blush on his face. "Yeah, yeah... good night."

Langa kissed the top of his head, his voice soft but full of excitement for the days ahead. "Good night, love. This trip is going to be amazing."
