Today was Langa's birthday. His 18th. It felt surreal, like we'd just met yesterday, but here we were, celebrating this milestone. I had to make sure it was perfect, so I planned a small celebration with him and his mom. We'd have dinner together, and then I'd stay over at his place.

I woke up early, sending him a good morning text along with a birthday wish. I wanted him to feel special right from the moment he woke up. There's something about birthdays that always makes me a little extra sentimental, and Langa—my Langa—deserved all of it.

The day was spent at the shop, Dope Sketch, where I was finishing his birthday gift. His old skateboard had broken last week, and I knew he was bummed about it. So, I decided to make him something special. I had spent the last few days in the shop, handcrafting a new one for him. It was a custom design, with both of our character symbols merged into the graphic. The background was a blend of blue and red, symbolizing our bond. I made sure it was perfect, just like him.

As I was finishing the final touches, I heard the familiar sound of my phone vibrating in my pocket. I pulled it out, seeing Langa's name lighting up the screen.

"Hey, Reki, do you think you could show up an hour earlier? My mom set the wrong time for dinner, and we have to go earlier for the reservation."

I glanced at the time—4:33 PM. We had planned to meet at 6:30, but now it seemed like I had to rush.

"Of course, yeah. I'll go get ready and be there in an hour. See you soon! Love you!"

"Alright, love you too. Bye." He hung up, his voice still lingering in my head, making me smile.

I sighed, looking at the clock again. "What am I even gonna wear?"

I dashed home and up to my room with the skateboard in hand, tossing open my closet door and pulling out clothes. I dug through my shirts, tossing them onto the floor in frustration.

"Honey, what's going on in here?" My mom's voice startled me as she walked in, glancing around at the mess I'd made.

"Oh, uh, I'm just trying to find something to wear for Langa's birthday dinner. I want to look decent for him since it's his special day."

My mom giggled, stepping in to help. "Well, what about these jeans?" She held up a pair of black ripped jeans that I always liked.

I nodded, considering it. "Yeah, those could work."

"And how about this shirt?" She held up a yellow shirt, slightly faded but still looking good. "You would look so cute in this."

I looked at it for a moment, then shrugged. "It doesn't look half bad. I guess I'll go with that. Thanks, Mom."

"Of course, sweetie. I'm going to check on the girls. See you tomorrow." She smiled warmly before heading out of my room.

I quickly changed into the outfit, and while it wasn't anything flashy, I felt good in it. My hair was messy, though, so I thought about brushing it out. But as I stared at myself in the mirror, I sighed and put my headband back on. It just felt more me.

I grabbed my phone, sent one last message to Langa, and headed out the door, the skateboard in my hand.

I finally reached Langa's house and stood at the door with his gift in hand. My heart raced as I knocked, trying to calm the butterflies in my stomach.

The door slowly opened, and there he was—my beautiful Langa, wearing a smile that could light up the whole room.

"Reki!" He pulled me into a tight hug, lifting me off my feet for a second before pulling back to kiss me on the cheek.

"Why hello, birthday boy," I teased, grinning.

Langa chuckled, pulling me inside. "You look good. Are you ready to go soon?"

I followed him inside, feeling at ease in his presence. "Yeah, I'm ready. I brought your gift, by the way. When do you want to open it?"

He paused, looking at the skateboard in my hands, then slowly turned back to me with a soft smile. "Do you think maybe we could open it now?"

I nodded, my heart pounding. "Of course. I don't care when, just as long as you like it."

Langa's eyes sparkled as he took the skateboard from my hands. We walked to his room, and he sat on the bed while I stood beside him. Slowly, he pulled the wrapping paper off, revealing the custom board. The moment he saw it, his eyes widened in awe.

"Wow, Reki... It's so cool! I love it! Thank you so much!" He traced his fingers along the design, his voice soft with admiration.

"Of course, my love. Anything for you," I said, my heart swelling with affection.

Just as I leaned in, planning to kiss him, the door swung open.

"Boys, let—" Nanako stopped mid-sentence, her eyes wide. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to interrupt, but it's time to go."

I quickly stood up, feeling my cheeks turn red as Langa smiled at me knowingly. We followed Nanako out to her car, and I ended up sitting in the middle seat with Langa. His hand found mine almost immediately, and I felt his warmth seep through my fingers.

As the car drove, Langa leaned in close to whisper in my ear.

"When Nanako walked in, I saw you get all red. That was pretty cute."

I flushed even more. "Oh, well—uh, I just wasn't expecting her to walk in. I wanted a kiss..." I pouted, feeling embarrassed.

Langa laughed, his breath hot against my ear. "Well, how about I just give you one now?"

Before I could respond, he turned my head gently toward him, his lips capturing mine in a soft, lingering kiss.

Dinner was absolutely amazing. I couldn't stop complimenting the food, and Langa just kept grinning at me. As soon as we were finished, I lay down on his chest, completely content.

Langa wrapped his arms around me, pulling me closer. His fingers slowly ran through my hair, soothing me as we lay in comfortable silence.

"You're so sweet, Langa," I murmured, my voice soft. "What did I ever do to deserve you?"

A faint blush spread across his cheeks as he kissed my forehead. "I love you so much, Reki. This is the best birthday I've ever had. Thank you for making it so special."

"I'm glad you're enjoying it," I said, my heart full. "But I love you more."

Langa let out a small laugh, his fingers still playing with my hair. "No way. I love you more."

We went back and forth, each of us insisting that the other was the one who loved more, until finally, I gave in.

"Fine, you win, Langa. But only because it's your birthday," I said, pressing a kiss to his lips.

He grinned. "I'll take it."

And just like that, we settled into a peaceful, contented silence, knowing that this was a birthday neither of us would ever forget.
