Egg hunt and I Love You

Easter Special :P Kind of cringey, kind of cute.

The morning sun filtered through the half-open window, scattering light across Reki's bedroom floor. Outside, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, petals drifting lazily through the air like nature's confetti.

It was Easter Sunday, and Reki had woken up absurdly early with a plan.

Not just any plan—a Reki special plan. Complete with glittery plastic eggs, sweet treats, and one very sleepy blue-haired boy as his target.

By the time Langa walked in, hair still messy from sleep and hoodie sleeves covering his hands, Reki was bouncing on his heels, barely containing his excitement.

"Happy Easter!" Reki beamed, holding up a hand-painted sign made of cardboard and chaotic love. "You, my friend, are about to go on an egg hunt!"

Langa blinked. "You made a sign?"

"I made everything." Reki puffed his chest with pride. "Eggs are hidden all over the yard and inside the house. Each one has something special—stickers, tiny skateboarding facts, maybe even a few clues."

"Clues?"

Reki grinned. "You'll see."

Langa smiled sleepily. "Did you really wake up at 6 a.m. just to hide eggs?"

"I woke up at 5:45, actually," Reki said proudly. "C'mon, your basket's on the table!"

Sure enough, a small basket decorated with fake grass, ribbons, and a tiny charm of a snowboard dangled from one side. Langa picked it up and looked inside—already two eggs were waiting there, one with a pun written in marker: "You're EGGstra special."

"I should've known you'd go all in," Langa said, shaking his head with a laugh.

"You should've. Now go! Time starts now!"

An hour later, Langa had found twelve eggs total, including one that Reki had stuck to the bottom of his skateboard and another hidden inside the toaster.

Every egg had something small but personal—a doodle of the two of them skating, a silly little poem, a tiny packet of Langa's favorite cocoa powder, even one with a note that simply said, "I love spending every season with you."

That one he kept in his pocket.

Eventually, the final clue led Langa to the backyard, where Reki stood grinning behind a small, decorated table filled with sugar cookies, sprinkles, and icing tubes.

"We're decorating cookies now?" Langa asked, heart already too full.

"Yup," Reki said, tying an apron around his waist. "Easter rules. You gotta eat sweets, wear pastel, and get frosting all over your hands."

Langa raised an eyebrow. "That's a rule?"

"It is in this house."

They got through exactly two cookies before Reki squirted a line of blue icing across Langa's cheek with a mischievous grin. Langa retaliated by dotting Reki's nose with pink frosting, and it all spiraled from there—laughter, a light dusting of powdered sugar, and half-finished cookies abandoned in favor of a frosting battle that ended with both boys lying in the grass, chests heaving with laughter.

"I think I won," Reki said, smiling up at the sky.

Langa turned his head toward him, eyes soft. "I think I did."

Reki looked over. "Oh yeah? How?"

Langa leaned closer, brushing a bit of icing from Reki's jaw with his thumb. "Because I got to spend the morning with you."

Reki's cheeks turned pink—not from sugar this time. "That was so cheesy."

"Blame the cookies."

They laid there for a while, surrounded by pastel chaos, half-decorated bunnies and hearts scattered like confetti.

Then Reki sat up suddenly, pulling something from behind his back. "One last egg."

Langa tilted his head. "I thought I found them all."

"This one's special," Reki said, handing over the sparkly gold egg.

Langa opened it carefully.

Inside was a folded note. He unrolled it slowly and read the single sentence written in Reki's messy handwriting:

"Will you be my always?"

Langa blinked. Once. Twice.

Then he smiled, eyes crinkling at the corners, and leaned forward to press a quick, soft kiss to Reki's cheek.

"I already am."
