The ride back was silent aside from the breeze rushing by and blue's panting breath in Willow's ear.
Daryl's lips were in a tight thin line as he drove his eyes occasionally catching a lone walker straggling down the road.
The three made it back to the farm around sundown and once they pulled in out pooled helping hands to gather supplies from the backseat and floorboard of Willow's jeep.
"How'd it go?" Asked Glenn as he fixed Charlie on his hip. "I see you two didn't bite each other's heads off." He glanced towards Daryl who was quietly putting away the few items that he had grabbed for himself into a small satchel on his bike.
"Almost." Willow scoffed, rolling her eyes. "He really knows how to get under someone's skin."
Glenn let out a soft chuckle. "Lori was looking for ya." He nodded his head towards the farmhouse. "Seemed pretty important." He added.
"Thanks for keeping an eye on him." She smiled apologetically at her friend.
"Don't worry about it." Glenn waved her off. "Charlie and I are good pals aren't we?" He asked the baby who reached for the old baseball cap.
"I'm gonna head in and check on Carl and See what Lori needs." She grabbed one of the smaller bags with the medicine and supplies that she needed and began walking towards the house.
Upon entering the house she was greeted with a smile from Maggie and a nod from Hershel.
She walked down the hall, turning left at the end towards the bedroom where Carl was laid up. Lori by his side reading a book from Hershel's collection in the den.
Willow knocked softly, Lori's head shooting up. A relieved sigh escaped her lips. "Willow.." she smiled standing up from her chair. "How was the run?" She asked.
The young doctor smiled back. "It was successful." She said as she set the bag onto the edge of the bed. "I'll need to go back in a few days but this should hold us over until then." She said as she pulled pill bottles and bandages from the bag.
"He was sweating a lot earlier and he felt feverish." Lori said, clearing her throat. "We put a cold towel over his forehead to hopefully bring the fever down." She rambled. "A-And he hasn't woken up. Is that normal? And he kept whining in his sleep. Is that normal?"
Willow walked to Carl's side. "A fever is normal. He could have a small infection that his body is trying to fight off or he could be hot. We're in Georgia after all." She said, placing the back of her hand to the boy's forehead. "Him sleeping a lot is normal as well..his body is healing. He needs his rest to get better."
Lori nodded, her hands shaking as she held them close to her body.
"Glenn told me that you were looking for me. What's up?" She asked as she began examining Carl's stitches.
Lori glanced around the room. "Is there anywhere we can go that's a little more private?" She asked.
Willow stopped. Her eyes falling on Lori. "Is everything okay?"
Lori shook her head. "I..I don't really know."
She nodded. "You can head to my bedroom upstairs. It's the last one on the left." She said as she reapplied the bandage, placing extra tape on the sides so that it would be more secure.
Lori nodded quickly whispering a small thank you before quickly exiting the room.
Willow quickened her pace, going fast enough so that Lori wouldn't have to wait long and slow enough so that she wouldn't miss anything.
