"How do you feel?" Willow asked from the bedroom doorway as she watched Carl stand up for the first time since the surgery.
Carl stood by the bed with Lori beside him. Lori kept a strong arm around his waist as he leaned against the edge of the bed. He smiled up at her. His legs still wobbly from his time in bed. "Good."
She nodded. "Well, the plan is to take it slow for the next few days." she moved further into the room, sitting down in a chair in the corner. "We need to make sure your stitches don't pop open and that it doesn't get infected." she explained.
Carl's smile dipped slightly. "When can I go outside with everyone else?"
Willow leaned forward sitting on the edge of the chair. "We'll give it a couple of days before going out."
Carl frowned, looking to his mother then back towards Willow.
"Willow's right baby. Just for a few days." Lori brushed down his messy hair.
"Right, just a few days." She nodded. "Since we don't have access to a hospital and certain medicines I just want to be on the safe side." She explained with a smile. "In a few days we'll get ya outside but for now we can just walk around the house."
Carl nodded, a pout forming on his chubby face. He didn't like the idea Willow could tell.
"If I see that there aren't any issues, I might consider letting you out a little early."
When Carl heard this, he perked up, a wide grin swallowing his face.
"I said might."
"I think all he heard was being let out early." Lori chuckled and gave Carl's hand a squeeze.
Willow rose to her feet. "I need to head out to check the fences." She sighed pushing back her hair. "Apparently Hershel found some evidence that something got through."
Lori helped Carl back under the covers. "Really? Animal maybe?"
"God, I hope so." She pulled her hair up and out of her face. "If Carl needs anything you can ask Beth she's been helping and knows his routine. I'll be back soon." And with that she exited the room.
Willow made her way outside, the hot Georgia air hugging her skin in a wet blanket. She hated it. She missed fans and AC.
She made her way to the group who were all surrounded a pile of charred wood and other trash that they used the night before to keep the fire going.
"Where is it that Hershel needs looking at?" She asked with her hands on her hips.
Rick stood between Shane and Daryl. "Over by the woods." He said pointing to a wooded area. "Down by the edge of the pasture."
"Where's the toolbox?" She looked around.
Glenn, who was busy looking at the RV with Dale, shot his hand up. "Over here Willow!" Beside Glenn's ratty sneakers was a red metal toolbox.
"I want someone going with you Willow." Rick moved to grab the toolbox. "We don't know what's down there and until we do its safer to have a partner."
Willow opened her mouth to protest.
"I'll go with her." Shane raised his hand and stepped forward.
Willow shook her head praying that someone else would offer but no one did.
Rick handed her the toolbox, explaining where they were needed and what was to be done once there.
Willow and Shane set off on their little adventure with willow a few good steps ahead of Shane. She kept her eyes open and eyes sharp. Shane was a snake. Who knows what he was capable of.
