By the time they made it into the small, abandoned town it was already nightfall it was quiet aside from the crickets singing their mating song.

Willow parked on the outskirts of town. She parked into a wooded area which was out of sight from the road just in case there were others passing by, but this was unlikely.

The three made their way into town with quiet steps. Blue was stationed between Daryl and Willow, his paws lightly tapping the ground as he trotted his nose lightly pressed against the cracked asphalt sniffing for anything.

Both Willow and Daryl held up their weapons with one hand while the other held a flashlight.

Daryl clicked his tongue to get Willow's attention. When she looked up, he nodded towards a hardware store. The windows boarded up as if that would keep out the horror which lay outside. Daryl inched closer; his crossbow drawn.

When they made it to the boarded-up door Daryl lightly tapped on the exposed glass. He waited a few seconds before tapping again but there was no sign of anything behind the door. He turned glancing towards Willow who in return nodded letting him know that she was ready.

Daryl pushed against the door using his shoulder. All of his weight was focused on getting the door open. At first the door didn't budge; it was as if something was wedged against it.

Willow leaned in close to Daryl's ear and whispered. "Blue and I will check around back to see if there's a way in." she pointed towards an alley between the hardware store and a poorly boarded up post office.

Daryl said nothing, only stepping back to land another shoulder blow to the door.

Willow rolled her eyes already tired of his attitude. She didn't understand why he decided to come if he wasn't going to be a team player. She figured the faster they find a way in the faster they could move to the next building and the faster they could go back to the group. She missed Charlie and wanted nothing more than to have him in her lap while she read him a bedtime story. Currently they are reading Love you forever by Robert munsch. It was the first thing that Aster ever bought him; it was before she even knew that he was a him. Charlie loved the book and Willow loved reading it to him.

Willow and blue made their way around the building, blue's nose pressed against the ground, he weaved from one side to the other trying to sniff out anything. Willow followed close behind him, her flashlight bouncing from wall to wall, her knife clutched tightly in her hand.

Blue's ears perked his lean body stiffening, the fur on his back stood up straight. Willow stuffed the butt of the flashlight between her teeth before pulling out another blade from a leather sheath that was situated on her left thigh.

Blue let out a low growl, his body crouched. He planted himself between willow and whatever laid ahead.

She gripped the knives tighter, her knuckles turning white. She was ready.

Up ahead there was a small rustling and what sounded like an empty can rolling. The noise grew louder as it neared them. Willow hoped whatever it was wasn't too loud. The noise sounded closer now whatever it was seemed to be in a hurry. It sounded too fast to be a walker but too light to be human.

Willow stepped around blue so that she was now planted in front of him, her hand slowly wrapping around his mouth. She couldn't have him barking and with the way his growl sounded she knew it was coming. Although she had trained him well, he was still a dog whose main instinct was to protect his people.

"Shhh." She cooed trying to calm him so he wouldn't make any noise. Her thumb brushed against the soft fur on his long snout. "You're okay."

Willow moved him so that he was behind her legs putting herself between what was coming.
