What feels like eternity passes before the darkness fades and a crack of light forms in the top of Godpheus's satchel. Cain and I remained huddled together, shivering uncontrollably with the movements of the giant bag as the scientist had lugged it across Meridia. Cameras flashed outside and news programs broadcasted Godpheus's every move. We listened in complete silence as the giant was interviewed over and over and over again, from our world contained within the stuffy satchel and all of its blackness. And after Cain's comment about her, the other Exodus's and the Genesis's perishing in the near future, it seemed as though all hope was lost.

Godpheus had gotten his wish. I really was going to remain in his clutches while he sought to destroy every single person I'd come to know and love. Adam, The Director, Colton, Three O-Seven, Waverly...

Dead.

So when Godpheus's billboard sized face appears through the satchel opening above us, I'm quick to blink back the sudden onslaught of light and allow my built up anger to lengthen my gold plated fingernails into lethal claws.

"You're not going to get away with this, Laquanian. What you're doing to my race is genocide!"

The giant only laughs, throwing his head back mockingly. I ball my hands into fists, willing him to make a move. "Laquanian seems like the wrong term now, don't you think?" He queries with a smirk. "You must be confused. See; Laquanians don't exist anymore. We're the new humans. It isn't genocide. Only... replacement."

"You have no right to kill us all off!" Now Cain is just as angry. She stands by my side at the base of the satchel, her purple tipped wings spread wide despite the confined space.

Godpheus's newly reddened eyes glimmer with the challenge. "If you'll recall Miss Cain, I created you." He coos, reaching down to poke her squarely in the chest. "Everything about you is mine. You're both mine, and it is within my rights to do with you what I please."

The Exodus staggers back with a sharp intake of breath, and I have to catch her before she stumbles over the thick folds of fabric within the scientist's bag. I grind my teeth together in a mixture of anger and irritation, stepping in front of Cain protectively. My heart thuds like a wild animal inside my chest.

"What; did I intimidate you?" Godpheus smirks, pointing to his chest, before grumbling in mock sadness. "Hmph. I suppose the fun has to end at some point. You're no use to me at that size, after all." A chuckle escapes his lips and he stands to his full skyscraper tall height above us, striding briskly out of view. The satchel remains open, revealing nothing but a crisp white ceiling, miles and miles away.

"No... no... no...." Cain whispers, her voice shaking with every word. From outside the satchel, I hear the giant shuffling around, cursing to himself as he sorts through tinkling glassware and metal. I kneel down at eye level with the suddenly frightened Exodus, gripping her shoulders tightly.
